View Full Version : Hypothetical #1

A hypothetical to keep us entertained over the offseason. If its successful we can make up more.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ben Cousins on going feud with Kerr has caused tension within the team and the team is divided. Cousins has come out and said he will NOT play alongside Kerr and wants to be traded.

What does West Coast realistically ask for him? Or do they trade off Kerr - who wants to stay - to satisfy our captain?

Have to trade Kerr I guess. Wouldn't want to trade him, but Cousins is the captain. Trade Kerr for someones first round draft pick or a quality player.

you would want as good as you could get for him.

i would like a top 5 player, no top 3 player from the club that he goes to....... kinda like brisbane supporters want with headland. but if a player really wants to go :( you take the best that is offered.

If we could do a deal..Headland +Chick for Kerr and our 3rd round pick.

So all of you are saying you would rather trade kerr - who wants to stay - instead of cousins -who wants to go - just to keep the captain happy? Isn't that sending out the wrong message to the rest of the team that loyalty won't be rewarded?

How loyal was Daniel Kerr in the first place? If the rumours are true he did a disgraceful thing.

what the **** are you on about D4E???? you asked the question and you got the replies. i sure as hell don't want kerr to go but as you said it's a hyperthetical.

First up - Cousins wouldn't go, it wouldn't get past the "he goes or I go" stage before the decision was made to jettison Kerr. And it probably wouldn't even get to that ultimatium, given that there's a pretty big stigma attached to a serving captain jumping ship. So I'd expect Kerr to go, or neither.

Some sort of deal with Headland could be worked out for Kerr. It's obvious by the way Kerr's been targeted in both Brisbane games this year that Lethal really rates him. Of course we'd be trying for a bit more than a straight swap, but that may be the go.

Cousins? Forgetting what some of the main board idiots might say, he's in the top 5 in the comp and could pretty much name his destination, as did Carey. It'd then be up to us to try to get the best we can.

Damn, that time of the month is it??

Sorry if my post came across in as a criticism, it wasn't meant to. I was just really surprised that so many people haven't even entertained the thought of trading cousins. I merely wanted people to expand on why they posted what they did.

yeah the cramps are really killing me ;)
this is a very sensitive subject amongst eagles fans.

i honestly didn't think of trading cousins at all. firstly he has been around longer than kerr and he would top my list on the untradables (followed by kerr in the top 5)

the unfortunalty thing about this whole deal is that we as the general public will be kept in the dark until trade week. no way will the club come out and say kerr is a right c**t or that cousins is a pathetic captain.

Keep Cousins.
Realistically, the only trade I see Brisbane being happy to do with us would be a straight swap - Kerr & Headland. We'd like more, but Brisbane are and will continue to play hard ball.

A tad optimistic.

I don't see how what Kerr did, (if he did it, as no one has actually officially confirmed it...all I have heard are Sunday Times type rumours), has anything to do with loyalty to the team. He was dating Cousin's sister, right? I suppose that is the crime of the century?

If someone wants to PM me with the whole story, I might change my reply.

As to the hypothetical, the Eagles are a professional outfit, and would probably make the two in question work it out, and get over it.

If we wanted to get rid of Cousins in this hypothetical.

I wouldn't except anything less than a top line tall player (Fletcher, Gaspar, Hay, Tredrea) and another highish draft pick (low 1st round/high 2nd round).

Or a very good tall player (Ottens, King, Ben Graham etc,.) or a top line small player (Harvey, Nathan Brown, Bell, Black) along with a top 10 pick.

If we wanted to get rid of Kerr in this hypothetical.

I would go top line tall player and a pick between 25-35.
or
Very good tall player of top line small player and a pick between 15-25.

That would satisfy me. The reasons for wanting the extra draft pick is because of their potential because they are still young and they are already extremely good players.

Apparently, there is a lot more to the story than that.

I`m a bit like USAEagle, very much in the dark about the supposedly dirty deeds done by Daniel Kerr.

What is he supposed to have done that is so heinous?

Whatever, I think the club would make sure bridges were built.

Why bring this ****in **** back up again?

It's water under the bridge, not doing anyone any good to be going back over it again. We have a ****in good season, and theres so much going on in the ways of possible trades in the off-season and people wanna bring this **** up. It's ****in disgraceful.

You're right, I must remember to only post nice things about West Coast in the future. Should I go and make a "I love Ben Cousins" thread?

I dont love Ben Cousins, in fact ive gone off at people for blindly loving him before, Jod will testify to that

Fact of the matter is the whole thing is dead and buried and people keep wanting to bring it up, like theres nothing better to talk about?

Its sad that you have to resort to muckraking when theres so much other **** going on

Originally I was just going to post 'how much is Ben Cousins trade value', just out of curiousity. But I figured people would come up with absolute crap and the thread would be dead after 10 replies, so I threw in a bit of colour to the hypothetical and see what people would say.

The Cousins/Kerr story was merely there to give people a reason for why Cousins is being traded, yet people still came up with "it would never happen" type answers (which really beats the point of posting in a hypothetical thread).

That was not a good way to start the day. Thing is though it is current in the sense that it only appeared in the Royal Commission yesterday.
