havent paid much attention to the Shield however, seeing the highlights, it makes me cringe to see the Australian Domestic Cricket Comp has abandoned tradition just like the English County system in relation to player kits.

numbers and names on the back, it is not right. The county ones look plain aweful, and I have no idea why cricket Australia would go with it.

4-5 day games should only have the player cap number underneath the crest, and no name on the back.

As you can tell, im not a fan

They have put numbers and names on the shirts so that people watching can easily tell who is who (let's be honest: the vast majority of domestic players aren't exactly household namers).

So tradition means you shouldnt change something for the better. Fair dinkum, if people who follow cricket object to a move which allows players who are not house hold names to be better identified then surely it is a smart move. Cricket is held back by its elitist past, if cricket wants to survive it has to throw free these burdens of the past, soon will be see test matchs played at night. I suggest you get used to it. If you want to live in the past and follow "tradition", no matter how trivial it is then you should get Ian Chappell to speak at a function and listen to him regurgitate stories from 30 years ago.

QFT.

Sure, change sucks, but it has to happen.

I can see your point - it looks ugly but lets face it, even the people who go to every game would struggle to tell some of the players apart.

Have a look at the 20/20 shirts - gee some of them are terrible.

 The Victorian shirt looks more like a New Zealand shirt (as far as the main colours)
