The Dockers (or any other AFL club) were all in the Sari club when the bomb went off, and all were killed. What would the club do and how would they get the ship upright again?
THis is not intended as a troll. If the bomb had gone off on Friday Night instead of Saturday, this would very likely have happened. What would they do?
Theyd have to pull out of the comp for the year....theres no way you could get a totally new list up and running before the next season started.
Already done here on the main board:
Potentially devastating to our game. (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51014)
my suggestion was this:

My take on what i would do if i was in Wayne Jackson's or whoevers shoes.
Now lets just say that the lives of 20 players from each of Fremantle, Melbourne, North Melbourne and Geelong were killed in the attack.
Each of the clubs would have to get an extra draft picks at the start and end (and the first 2 picks at the start of the draft) of each round of the National Draft and the order of the picks would be put into a lottery.
ie
Round 1
1. Fre/Mel/NM/Geel
....
8. Fre/Mel/NM/Geel
9. Carlton
10. Carlton
11. St Kilda
...
24. Collingwood
25. Brisbane
26. Fre/Mel/NM/Geel
27. Fre/Mel/NM/Geel
28. Fre/Mel/NM/Geel
29. Fre/Mel/NM/Geel
Round 2
30. Fre/Mel/NM/Geel
...
33. Fre/Mel/NM/Geel
34. Carlton
.....
49. Bris
50. Fre/Mel/NM/Geel
...
53. Fre/Mel/NM/Geel
and so on and so forth
With this system if there are 5 rounds each team gets 11 extra picks than usual. Also, the draft would be extended to pick number 125 and i'm sure we would have more than enough people willing to put themsleves into the draft because of the extra chances of being picked up.
Clubs would then have a chance to sign the remaining 9 players from the VFL, SANFL, WAFL or any league in the country before the pre-season draft pick came.
It would take a long time for the clubs to get over it with their performances as their club lists would be very much weakend.

What did Manchester United do when they lost all their players?

There would have to be some kind of draft where the teams affected can get players from other clubs.

I imagine there would be a shortened season and those clubs would sit out a year. AFL would offer financial compensation to those clubs, they would be allowed to sign "free agents" and would be given priority picks in the draft.
Not much else could be done, really.
