Been reported on the AFL site that Heffernen will be traded to Brisbane in a 3 way deal with Fremantle.

We get Damien Cupido, Adam McPhee and pick 17
Brisbane get Heffernen, pick 5 and 21
Fremantle get Des Headland.

Sounds like its worked out pretty well for us.

Not happy to see Heff go. This trade looks to me to be primarily driven by the cap, as neither player we're getting has done much so far.

I would be pretty happy with that deal as McPhee will be a top player. Is only young and shows a bit.

Cupido would be pretty good if he could stay injury free.

Heffernan has never being a big time player evidenced by never finishing in the B and F top 10 and definitely not worth the number 2 selection in the draft what we got him at. He seems to be like other players by been good only in good sides.

I like the trade.

McPhee sounds like a possible tall defender (6'2")
and Cupido in a forward pocket might kick lots of goals.

I'll miss Heff, though.

Caracella instead of Heffernan.

Better? Worse? The same?

On form, worse, on potential, the same.

I think that, chances are, we are going to lose Caracella anyway. Better to get a couple of young players for him and hope we can turn them into good players, then to lose him in the pre-season draft for nothing.

It now looks like Blumfield will be off to Carlton and the Heff will be traded to Melbourne. A bit disappointing to lose these blokes after bringing them on as youngsters, however their form hasn't been too good over the past season or two, IMO.
