Without a doubt Powell and Monty would be in our current team.
We need a hard nut like Powell. Can't kick? disagree he is a sloppy kick but given the chance from 50 he bangs through a lot of goals. Ask a melbourne supporter.
Monty can be played both ends remember and was a handy goal kicker for us.
We need Robbo as he is hard at it and can kick long.
Alvey is more limited, but agree wouldn't trade him for nothing. But you have to constantly refresh your list so I prefer him to go than Robbins.
Playing as a forward, Monty managed the grand total of 14 goals in his last season with us.
Like a lot of old timers, time has exagerated their performances.
The problem wasn't that we traded Monty or Powell, the problem was that we traded them for Eagleton.

Powell is so important to the demons that they haven't even offered to renew his contract yet, and the poor bastard might be forced to leave to his third club. (according to the Hun)
Monty. Well, like I said. A handy player 2nd tier player. If Eagleton had turned into a quick Scott West with a raking left foot kick, Wallace would have looked like a genius. He didn't. Too bad for us.

IMHO some people are drastically over estimating us. We came 12th yet people have said that an All Australian and a man who has dominbated a finals series would struggle to get a game with us. The fact is Monty would play HBF for us and would no doubt do it very well allowing Smith or Smurf to move up the ground.
Powell is a better version of Dimma and Dimma gets a game, Powell would be a walk up start.

Agreed. I too would take Powell (and Monty) back, but I'm not slitting my wrists that they're gone.
Dimma gets a game, but wouldn't be in our best 22.
