What has happended to the Redbacks this weekend?

Why didn't they bat when they won the toss?

Good question.

Letting Slater get 177 is just embarrasing.

It seems nothing has changed at all. The usual p*** weak batting efforts which have been produced by them year in, year out for the last 4 or 5 years !

I share your frustration.

Ditto for Victoria - still a pessimistic Bushranger supporter...

Surprised that Greg Chappell was given another season as coach considering they have done very little in his several seasons heading the Redbacks (don't think they've made the final of the one-day or domestic comps in his time there).

We've been dangerously close to making the one-day finals in recent times. However, our shield performances - which is the main thing - have been woeful. I agree Chappell must go.

what a win for the blues today. i didnt see it, but from the scorecard, it looked pretty close. apparantly mark waugh was back to his best form but once again got bored upon making 50 (this after almost being run out without facing a ball)

apparantly michael clarke was also in a devastating mood.

gee its a good side on paper this full strength NSW outfit

Boy did they fall over the line.

I only watched the last 10-15 overs but Clarke was very impressive. Can't believe what he tried to do to Gillespie, anyone else see that?

so from what you saw today, is he potential test cricketer this summer??

if lehmann has a poor first 3 tests, do you think clarke is ready to step up yet?

From todays performance it would be hard to tell. It was a one day game, he adjusted accordingly.

IMO we should be blooding a few of these youngsters now so that we can carry them and let them develop in a succesful team. It wont be much fun in a few years time with a completely new XI chucked into the deep end.

i agree, and if gilchrist gets given the test captaincy when tugga retires, by giving clarke a decent footing now, he should be well moulded to take over the captaincy when gilly retires.

LONG LIVE THE REIGN OF NSW TEST CAPTAINS
AR Border (1984 - 1994)
MA Taylor (1994 - 1999)
SR Waugh (1999 - present)
AC Gilchrist (2000 - 2001)

For the second time this season, Brad Haddin showed what a limited batsman he is. At the Gabba a couple of weeks back, he got completely bogged down as he was unable to handle the specific field settings the Queenslanders had set for him.

In this match he was all at sea in the few deliveries he faced of Greg Blewett's bowling. It seems that opposition sides are working him out and his batting can easily be rendered ineffective.

A terrific game of cricket. The crowd certainly got plenty of entertainment. A few more sixes would have topped it off. Im sure Steve Waugh and the selectors would have been happy with the form of ALL the test players. Gillespie looked a bit underdone but that was to be expected, at least he didnt get injured. Just wonder how different the result would have been had Bevan been given out LBW first ball (Gee I thought Daryl Harper was umpiring again !!!!) BTW the crowd was approx 4700. This must be nearly a record for a Redbacks one-day game.

The redbacks can certainly take heart from this game but I must ask the question. How bad is the standard of grade cricket in Adelaide when Harrity (how does he get a game ahead of Rofe ???), Harris, Miller and Manou keep getting a game.

Miller did take 7 for against Victoria the other week, agree though that Rofe should be in ahead of Harrity.
