Excellent read.
Kind of nostalgic too. I was a big fan of Fraternity when they were based in Adelaide. Bon had plenty of charisma even then.
There was obviously no love lost between the author and the Young brothers. There was even the hint that Bon might have got sacked if he hadn't died.
I've just finished reading a book by Jack Marx called "Sorry ... the wretched life of Little Stevie Wright." I can't remember if Clinton Walker mentioned it or not, but Stevie Wright was offered the job of lead-singer in AC/DC before Bon joined. Jack Marx mentions it in his book.
Stevie was jealous of Bon apparently. According to Marx, Bon's death occurred at a time when Stevie had been clean for 2 years. The news tipped Stevie over the edge and he got back on the dope again.
Jack Marx was a huge fan of Stevie Wright, but grew to hate him when he was researching the book. Stevie and his girlfriend ripped him off for $10,000 in the short time that he was staying with them. This may have had some influence on the impression Marx gives of them. And Stevie had a bad case of junkie's selective memory, so the story is based on recollections that may not be 100 per-cent accurate. But it's a great read anyway ... albeit a depressing one.
IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP ...

Yep,
Definitely one of the finest reads on the legend that is Bon Scott. I am currently reading 'Old Gods Almost Dead' - The Forty Year Odessy of The Rolling Stones. I would highly recommend this for the Xmas stocking of any Stones fan.

Alf,
I've read the Marx bio on "Little Stevie", and your right, it's a great read, yes, depressing, but certainly never dull. Little Stevie Wright is/was a wasted talent........even a loser perhaps..........
