Channel 7, riding high after winning the TV ratings war, has delivered Channel 10 a blow by poaching Thank God You¿re Here.Thank God You're Here, an award-winning creation from Working Dog Productions, will join Seven’s 2009 schedule for its fourth season.
Shane Bourne will remain as host in addition to his role on Seven’s cop drama City Homicide.
Look forward to seeing hilarious channel 7 personalities such as Sonia Krueger, David Koch and Grant Denyer take the stage...

LMAO – now i can see channel 7 doing something stupid along those lines because they have that sort of arrogance to try a stunt like that.
Gee it couldnt be much worse than Kate Langbreok, Akmal and the fat chick from Fat Pizza could it?
I'd say Working Dog would retain fairly strict control over the guest list, given they are the most important aspect of the show.
Doubt very much Se7en would use this as a platform to parade their "talent".

I really hope they don't use their own personalities. I wont be able to handle seeing cast members from Home and Away or Andrew O'Keefe up there.

I guess we should be thankful Channel 9 don't have it.
Imagine opening night with featured guests - Trevor Marmalade, Grant Hackett, Jules Lund and some no name from 'Canal Road'.
My god we live in a country with such utterly shit television personalities.
Well there's another show ****ed.
Or Andrew G, Kate Langbroek, Fifi Box... oh wait.

Can anyone else just see Channel 7 doing more than just the guest list, and change the colour scheme (from channel tens blue to 7's red), and possibly work the number 7 into the show, as they seem to be doing with everything else.

Well, there were some cross-channel talent before - i'm sure it will continue. Keep in mind that the Working Dog crew are the mafia.
I wouldn't mind seeing what O'Keefe could do - he has done comedy and is a pretty funny wanker when he's not being smug.
Way to ruin a perfrectly good Aussie show. I do hope we'll still see guys like Shaun Micallef, Angus Sampson and that the main actors like Ed Kavalee are still there.

TGYH had plenty of lousy one-time guest appearances on Ten. Seven won't be any worse just because it's a different set of poor choices.
I'm sure that toss bag Shane Bourne played a part in this:thumbsd:

Nobody, I repeat NOBODY could be worse than Monique Wright. She is possibly the most infuriatingly shit presenter this country has ever produced. She is like Mel^5
I doubt any of the Ch 7 people will be on it. If full control is given to Working Dog, I'd doubt they'd put Freddie Krueger and co on.
You guys are idiots, come on, 7 won't stuff it up. Kochie.......i don't think so! I'm sure the Working Dog team have ideas to keep the show pretty much the same on 7 as it was on 10. Why would seven stuff around with it that much.

Meh - rubbish show anyway, can't see how they could make it any worse
Noticed Something in the Hun TV guide today. When Grant Hackett's contract was ending at Se7en, they essentially told his management that he had to do Dancing with the Stars or piss off.
Never really rated the bloke before, but props to Hackett he decided to piss off. :thumbsu:
So there's no doubt they're going to exercise whatever control they can over this show and use it as a vehicle to shoehorn all their wankers like Freddy Krueger and O'Keefe in.
And at 1 million an episode, I'm sure Working Dog will bend over.

Exactly. What the hell is with some people?
How would channel 7 "stuff it up"? There were some terrible channel 10 and non-channel 10 personalities given a go. Why would it be any different on another network? Were all the good guests (i.e. Sampson, Blake, Lawson, Micallef etc) tied to channel 10??
With WD in charge, it will be much the same show.

Very good point. Of the real quality guests you listed, only two would have commitments to other networks (Micallef to SBS with Newstopia and Blake to Ten with Rove) and I think of the two, only Hamish would be at risk of missing out on the series with Seven, provided he is contracted as a Ten personality and not directly to Rove's production company.
If he's only contracted to Roving Enterprises, then he'd likely still be able to participate (Gina Riley and Jane Turner have a similar deal with Seven when they moved Kath & Kim there, where they only produce the show for the network, and are not restricted by being 'Seven Personalities', if that makes sense.)
Gee it couldnt be much worse than Kate Langbreok, Akmal and the fat chick from Fat Pizza could it?
Yes.
Channel 7 have a habit of utilising some of their top rating Aussie shows to cross promote other shows and personalities on the network. Their coverage of the Tennis Australian open became an embarassment with ads for Desperate housewives and Lost during the matches - the commentators also encouraged to comment on the ads.
Dancing with the Stars is pretty much a showcase of Channel 7 'talent', even going as far as having some of the dancers on 7's pre-grand final show; the tenuous link being former player Paul Licuria. Deal or no Deal will sometimes promote new seven shows i.e the 'Uglettes' when Ugly Betty was having its premiere. And then there's Today Tonight, which somehow manages to find unlimited news stories on Kath & Kim, DWTS, Packed to the Rafters and any other 7 program. FCS even Kath and Kim appear on Deal or No Deal.
Seven wish to create the illusion that they are all one big happy family and the way they do this is by geting as many of their personalities to appear together on various shows (not quite as bad as channel 9 however - see 20 to 1, Hole in the Wall, Bert's celebrity family feud).
Anyone who thinks 7 won't exploit Thank God you're here for all its worth is kidding themselves.
the most over-rated show on TV. Watched a few eps but honestly what a load of tripe.
I agree, I think it's a poor attempt at Whose Line is it Anyway (or perhaps community TV's Theatre Games).
Get rid of the whole game show aspect, the whole judging stuff and the post sketch commentary and it would be better (and of course the non-comdedians).
Mind you the other rip-off of whoseline in Australia has been shocking, probably due to the talent moreso than the format, but it doesn't help. I'm talking of course about Comedy Slapdown.

Surely having Thank God You're Here on Channel 7 is better than no Thank God You're Here at all? Shane Bourne is great as host; he really suits the role well.

But yes, Channel Seven are incapable of producing good TV, they already ruined Kath & Kim when it moved stations, and I have no doubt they'll find a way to ruin this.

How are they selling out?
They jumped from one commercial network to another.
It's not like Turner and Riley.

It's not like Turner and Riley.
Rather then stay at the network that believed in them they went where the extra $$$ were. And it's not like 10 were offering them a pittance either. Pure greed.
They abandoned the network they've been with for 11 years for more money. How is that not selling out? It's not as if they can bring in a lot of innovation with a show like this just by moving networks.

I reckon Dennis would go suprisngly well on a show like this
Has got a very quick wit
As long as they still have
Gussy Sampson
Tony Martin
Hamish Blake (although i doubt it)
Ed Kavalas (maybe as a guest this time)
I agree, I think it's a poor attempt at Whose Line is it Anyway (or perhaps community TV's Theatre Games). At it's best TGYH equals that of Whose Line, Whose Line for the most part consisted of the same two people and a change of Wayne Brady and others for the most, this is where Whose Line went right, it kept the best talent, didn't go scraping the barrel for others and non-comedians.
Maybe if TGYH could have a revolving system of Lawson(MUST HAVE), Blake, Micallef, Sampson, Akmal, Zemiro, Wilson, Martin.
So take 3 of them and have one fresh face each week, instead of 4 of a mix of either returning, new, or non-comedians each time.
That would be perfect.Get rid of the whole game show aspect, the whole judging stuff and the post sketch commentary and it would be better (and of course the non-comdedians).I agree, Gleisner shits me up the wall, but as the creator he has to get his face on TV somewhere within the hour.Mind you the other rip-off of whoseline in Australia has been shocking, probably due to the talent moreso than the format, but it doesn't help. I'm talking of course about Comedy Slapdown. That show makes me want to spew each time I see it, HG is THE WORST HOST EVER, he stumbles and fumbles through everything, needs the cards to actually know what the game is, so obviously reads the Teleprompter it is disgusting, and he can't even make funny stuff up on the spot, he is useless.
And the so called 'talent', they got a guy from Channel 31 to be on this show, that is how badly they are scraping the barrel!
They should put that guy who hosts Rollercoaster on ABC on the show. I would pay to see that douche bomb and get booed off the stage.

I like this in theory, however Akmal shouldn't be allowed anywhere near that list, and Frank Woodley should be on it.
The problem here is that someone is going to decide who is on "the list", and that someone is likely to be heavily influenced to include certain channel 7 "comedians", thus meaning that Fifi Box will end up on the list.

Here's my list of people who have thrived on TGYH, and those that have failed epically:
The untouchables
Hamish Blake
Shaun Micallef
Josh Lawson
Angus Sampson
Julia Zemiro
Frank Woodley
Bob Franklin
Tony Martin
Stephen Curry
Arj Barker
Cal Wilson
Alan Brough
Ross Noble
Matthew Newton
Stephen K Amos

Robyn Butler
Epic fail
Kate Langbroek
Rebel Wilson
Jimeon (funny guy but rubbish at improv)
Sean Choolburra
Anthony Field (wtf)
Anh Do (had some good moments but milks the same old jokes)
Julia Morris
Santo Cilauro
Kate Jenkinson
Dailan Evans
Matt Tilley
Josh Lawson and Frank Woodley are the two best performers on Thank God IMO, while Anthony Field and Kate Langbroek scrape the very bottom of the comedy barrel.
And now (because i feel like it), my list of new performers i want to see in '09:
Lachy Hulme
Chris Lilley
Noel Fielding
Bill Bailey
Phil Lloyd (aka Myles Barlow)
Ed Kavalee (upgraded to featured player)
Wayne Hope
Dave O'Neil
Colin Lane
John Doyle (of Roy and HG)

That list is pretty spot on but you forgot Fifi Box in the epic fail section.
Great first episode back, hasn't lost anything of previous seasons, literally, all the old cast are back and everything has stayed the same, TGYH hasn't been 7ised.
Merrick Watts was quite good, has a pretty easy setting, but got through it fairly well.
Rhys Darby was ok, probably the worst of the 4, his lack of experience showed through a bit, he did have a few good one liners though.
Cal Wilson was fantastic, still as funny as she has been previously, was VERY, VERY good.
Colin Lane(Lano from Lano & Woodley) was the real surprise though, he is just as good as Frank Woodley is, adapts really well to the situations, had a really tough setting, but breezed through it and his all-in costume was hilarious.
Special mention to the bit with Damien Fleming flogging the science institute, was ****en funny and I hope they can continue with these type of set-ups.
Also the mid-week situations were great as well.
Overall a great start and hopefully it can just build from here and hope we can get more great people back(From the bits they have been showing previously promoting it, it looks like Josh Lawson will be back(****EN WIN!), plus numerous others of which I now forget:o).

Merrick was awesome. He was quick, witty and a real surprise. I saw him on the Ten version and some of his jokes were pretty sub par. Maybe it was just his company though. Cal Wilson was okay, Rhys was pretty disappointing and Lano looked like he was struggling big time.
I just hope they can get some of the regulars from the Ten version back, although they won't get Hamish or Josh Lawson.
I'm fairly sure Hamish and Lawson will be on, i've seen them in the promos.

I would have thought Hamish would have been contracted to only appear on Ten and Lawson on Nine.I don't think any of them are obligated to any one channel, sort of like Shaun Micallef and how he had his own show on SBS while appearing on TGYH, same with Lawson being on an ABC and Nine show while appearing on TGYH, also with Rowsthorn being on Seven as well as being on TGYH, I'd say they all have flexible contracts.

Rob Carlton ftw!
So last nights performances:
Hamish Blake - Probably not his best, although he was still pretty funny.
Rob Carlton - Absolute genius. His hospital scene was hilarious. He looked very comfortable out there, would love to see him become a regular
Pete Rosthorn - Pretty consistent with his other performances. Good without being great, probably the second best on the night behind Rob.
English chick - Not great. Probably the weakest on the night I thought, shouldn't have been given the award.
I think this show should stop being so PC and just put on people regardless of their gender. This token female thing is getting a bit old. The one on tonight wasn't the worst I've seen but it would be better if they actually deserved to be on there and not just on there because of their genitalia.
I'm loving Flemo's little segment, 'just like my bowling, hey Steve'
Worst epidisode i have seen thus far from TGYH.
Hamish and the Pommy bird were both prett average. Rob Carlton the only one thatw as funny.
Have to agree last nights ep wasn't great.
Hamish seemed to take a little while to warm back into the whole thing, seemed a bit rusty, but got better as the skit went on.
Rob Carlton got into it really quickly and was very good, thought his work in the all-in was fantastic, very sharp witted and really played it all very well, as Tom Gleisner said he seemed to play it all off so well, was flowing.
Pete Rosthorn was good, without being great as said by RB, although his work in the all-in was great too, loved his work with the children, the all-in seems to work very well when they have one of them interact with kids.
Josie Long was average, looked a little lost with the whole thing and needed to think too much before her answers, did like the 'kick a dog in the face' thing though, probably the funniest line of the night for mine.
Flemo's bit again was hilarious, really hope they continue with that, he is on a roll and you can just see it becoming a fantastic regular bit, it only takes 30 seconds or so too.
Can seriously see the "...is a lot like medium pace bowling" catching on.
Well, in my vocabulary at least.
Last night's episode reminded me why I stopped watching this show on Ten... it used to be very hit and miss, and last night was definitely a miss (Damien Fleming excepted).

At least we get Gussy Sampson, hasn't been on for a long time, so hopefully he can fit right back in.
Will be interesting to see Jordan Raskopoulos have a go, was alright in Ronny Johns, but has relied a lot on looking like a nuffy to get through, so hopefully he has some improv skills.
This week will either be a disaster minus Sampson, or will be good with Hughesy and Raskopoulos the ones to watch.

Hughesy should be disqualified for saying "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." before everything he says. It gives him too much time to think about what he's going to say, even though ultimately he'll just end up saying something LOUD and high-pitched than give a goofy grin for laughs.
Rebel Wilson should not be allowed on TV.
Gussy Sampson FTW. A true TGYH champion.

Rob Carlton was very good. Should try to get him on as much as possible. The rest of the performances were average... Hamish had an average night. However if you watch his classic sketches he is by far the funniest improv bloke on TGYH. The Old man, the carravan - they were absolutely GOLD:D:thumbsu:.
