These are probably the 4 main chances to play in the first test at the Gabba.

I reckon Mark will retain his spot for the time being, but if he gets dropped Martin Love should get a crack.

I agree with you... Mark Waugh will retain his place because of his good record against England but if he fails in the first couple of matches then I think he's in big trouble.

Mark Waugh will play, whetehr he should be is very debatle.

I personally reckon he shouldn't be dropped yet. Give him the first 2 tests, then bring in whichever batsmen is in the batsmen form out of Love, Clarke, Lehmann or Maher.

I don't have much doubt M. Waugh will play. But I think if he fails in this game he should be dropped.

I've become like Steve Waugh on this issue, sick to death on all the media speculation about Mark Waugh's place in the side.

Certainly his position should be queried but it has become over-analysed, most likely because it serves as a more interesting topic then the likely non-event the Ashes will again be.

And I dare say that certain media outlets like 'The Australian' have been gunning for Mark Waugh's axing for years, way back to his involvement in with 'John the Bookie' was revealed in late 1998.

I'm pretty sure Mark Waugh will maintain his spot for the First Test. If anyone should be dropped from the Australian side it shoudl be Brett Lee.

Whole heartedly agree with wagstaff.

Brett Lee is on a golden ticket in the Aussie test team and should be given the boot. Hopefully for a fight Gillespie.

M.Waugh will be given a minimum of 2 tests to prove his worth, if he doesn't perform (He will probably only have 2 innings as its only the poms) then the inform batsmen at that stage should be given a go. Hopefully Boof Lehman, Brad Hodge as a smokie (Cos he's a victorian)
