Is Browny worth more than pick 15?

Heres a list of pick 15 players over the years.

1996 - Max Hudghton
1997 - Joel McKay (???)
1998 - Brady Rawlings
1999 - David Spriggs
2000 - Simon Wiggins
2001 - Barry Brooks

Hardly the greatest list of names ever.

Hudghton and Spriggs are handy. The rest???

This years draft is not meant to be that strong. How good is Gilmore? Worth a first rounder?

I'm not sure to be honest.

Where did you get the previous draft results from? Can you give us the address if it's not too much trouble?

Thanks in advance.

I got it from my trusty 2002 AFL Stats guide book in front of me.

If you have any specific questions I can have a look and give it a burl.

Not as useful as the AFL Stats book, but info on previous drafts is also at:

http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=draft&spg=alltimedraftlt

It gives drafts picks for a given club, and given year, so not really that useful for finding out things like: "Who was the number 15 pick in 1997?" but OK for "What draft pick did Freo use to pick up Leigh Brown?"

Well what ever it is worth it better be worth as least as much as Brown.
Anyone know of who we could possibly look at ?

Anthony Corrie (if still around at that pick) sounds good. Versitlie and pacey medium sized Aboriginal guy from the NT.

Check him out on Porthos' page.

Pick 15s

1996 - Max Hudghton - Handy tall backman.
1997 - Joel McKay (???) - buggered if I know.
1998 - Brady Rawlings - Inconsistent Kangaroo onballer / flanker.
1999 - David Spriggs - developing Class midfielder (possible 200 gamer)
2000 - Simon Wiggins - developing flanker (possible 200 gamer)
2001 - Barry Brooks - Highly rated young ruckman.

Three of these players (Spriggs, Wiggins, Brooks) look like they'll be quality long-term players in their teams. It's a Carlton example, but Camporeale was taken at 16 a number of years ago, and he's quite a good footlballer. With a good recruiting manager, you'll get a solid footballer. Not a star, but someone to build a team with.

They've been trying to build a team for years - pick 15 this year isn't going to sway it for them. :D
