What a joke trading williams for adkins what are the eagles doing? Why the hell would you trade a utility for a midfielder WHO ISNT EVEN ANY GOOD.Williams has been a regular since arriving at the eagles and how many games has adkins played NOT MANY.
Williams will tern out a very good player and adkins will be ****ed off in a couple years.If you were gonna trade williams we could have at lease got someone good.

Cannot agree with your sentiment arogers.
Both players are relatively young and have not been able to cement a regular place in their respective teams.
Both have shown glimpses of real ability and have been given another chance because of that.
We should wish them both well for now and wait and see what happens.
Time will tell arogers time will tell...

Have you actually seen Adkins play?
If he can get over his OP he will be in our best 22, and as his body matures (he has some bulk to put on) he could become an absolute star.
I'm rapt with the trade!!!

Injuries are a worry for me......
Hmm, similar sentiments to goldenblue. Frankly, I just don't know enough about Adkins to make a judgement at this point in time, other than that he looked the shiznit in his first season. I'm just gonna trust that our staff knew what they were on about. They've been right before.

Williams was never going to be a star for us, and Adkins has the potential to which is why I am so happy with the trade.
I dont think the trade is a joke as I know nothing about Adkins and wont really have an opinion until I see him play. But I am saddened to see one of my favourite players leave WC :(

Unfortunately, once Williams started playing for west perth I think he decided it was time to go back home!!
I agree with larrikin. It was a great trade! Adkins has the potential to become a star and one of our best players. I think he caught Woosha's eye when he was the best Collingwood player against us over here. That day he got 21 possessions and was very influential in the Collingwood midfield. He has also overcome his osteitis pubis and is ready to go. The reason Malthouse let him go is a mystery. It probably means that he just doesn't fit in his tactics. MM is known for trading players that perform very well in other clubs. Jarrad Schofield to Port Adelaide is an example. Larrikin is right on spot when he says that Williams would never become a star for us while Adkins has the potential to be just that. I am convinced that Woosha saw something special on him and don't be surprised if he becomes a regular in our best team.
williams was never in our best 18.
A guy who racks up 21 posessions against west coast in a losing side must have potential.

I can't believe we got anything for Williams. What is he now, 26? and still fighting out with Embley over Half-forward.

Two days ago we were all ticked off that Williams was put up for trade ahead of Embley. Two days ago we all felt Williams was our #1 HFF. Now that he's gone he's suddenly a hack?
Come on people, don't be like Rohan and name every eagles player a star, and everyone else an overrated hack.

I like the trade, i remember adkins first year, he did VERY well and looked ok this year.
Williams is no hack, but to me i think the trade was good for both sides, Williams just could not perform how we needed him to. He will prob play well for the woods as will adkins for us:)
VERY happy with our 2 trades!:cool:

Obviously Williams was never able to overcome the disappointment of leaving the Royals and having to play with the Garlic Munchers!!!!

Im not, Im still annoyed that we traded him. He was our best HFF IMO. Great hands, kicked straight and had a good footy brain. He was criminally underused.

Wasn't he with us originally originally when he came over from Vic? I remember Callum Chambers was, but I can't remember with AW.
He played all right for us early in the season but seemed to crack the sads by the end - his Final against East Freo was the worst I've seen from an AFL player.
Typical Victorian - doesn't appreciate a real club! :D
Cant say im too happy with the trade, ive always said that Williams should be our #1 HFF. Keeping Embley instead of him was a joke and will come back to haunt us i reckon
Good luck to him and i hope he gets more opportunity there than he did here

I think they both were at West Perth along with Heath Younie (going well in South Australia now) and Craig Smoker when they first were drafted to the Eagles

They Probably tried Embly but couldn't stitch the deal, plus i have heard Williams may have wanted to go home. From what i have seen (and i watched him a fair bit in his first year actually) adkins could be a very good zippy half forward/wing type for us:)
