Any information on the Queensland allrounder ?

He looks to bowl OK but is his batting up to it ?

Had a great season so far hasn't it.

Not quite adapted to the long form of the game.

Just a medium pace bowler who sturggles with the bat.

Will always excel at one dayers cause he takes the pace off the ball but i dont think he'll go much farther than State level.

Australia dont have a policy of picking players as specialist medium pacers (i dont believe he's batting is upto calling him all rounder).

The little I've seen of his bowling he has looked good.

For those who know more of him what level is his bowling at?

He's a decent ING Cup cricketer but I doubt by the end of his international career will have a bowling average of < 30 or a batting average of > 25

Good thought mate but for some reason the people jump on you for bumping old threads.

Hopes is a typical bits and pieces all-rounder, not a batting allrounder like Simmo or Watson. That puts him in the Shane Lee/Ian Harvey mould, and really I don't know why you have to persist with these players. If Cam White doesn't continue to improve his batting there's no reason why he should play for Australia.

Who?!
YOu obviously don't take any notice of cricket and if it was an attempt of humour, a very poor attempt.

Hopes made a really good score for Aust A and ever since, Trevor Hohns thinks his boy could repeat that for Australia. Has had plenty of chances and hasnt really done anything with the bat or ball. :thumbsd:

WTF are you on he has played 2 matches. Thought he played well last night and showed that he will be a good ODI player for the future.

Reminds me a lot of Ian Harvey. Wouldn't be surprised if we open up with him once or twice this summer if Gillys rested. Bowling is ok, quite quick live, and so far has been tight. :thumbsu: capable bat, and decent fielder.

With Watson's injury, Hopes has a good chance to push for WC selection. Whilst I'm not convinced he can make it, I would like to see him given a decent run, so we find out one way or the other.

Which would mean in a handful of matches he has gotten more chances to bat than Harvey ever did

Hopes is a QLDer, Hohns is a QLDer thats why he is in the squad

He's a solid bits and pieces allrounder that might go alright and have a successful career like Ian Harvey. I think he's referring to the poor performances with Australia A (in 04/05) by Hopes.

Harvey would be filthy he never got the chance to open in an ODI. To have a HS of 48* batting at 8 or 9 and not getting decent chances with the bat would have him angry if hopes got to play as an opener.

Harvey has a Twenty20 century or two under his belt, no easy feat.

Hopes is a better bat than Harvey, personally, i never really rated Harvey at all.

Hopes is the man and once again Queensland produces the goods.
