I would love to see something like this in the future, but I know it's never going to happen. Doesn't stop me from speculating, though.

It'd be played at neutral venues, possibly hosted in England or something like that. I considered a h&a system but that's too unrealistic to even discuss.

The way I see it is each team would play the other teams twice, with 3pts for a win and maybe 1pt for a draw. If two or all three sides were level at the end of the series then it'd be decided in the same way that the Sheffield Shield is. I'm not 100% sure but I think it's decided by RR? (Someone help me with that one)

Anyway, who would win the series if it were played now? Let's assume all teams would be at full strength.

All things equal, Australia are still the number one cricket nation in the world. So if I had to choose the winner of that particular tri-series, I'd go Australia in a heart-beat.

India at the moment imo.

Australia going through a transitional period, meanwhile India, although have lost a couple of past greats, seemed have filled those holes adequately and look a more compact side.

Ask this question perhaps this time next year, and things may be different.

Think you would have to include Englerland as well?. Top 4 teams in the world, would love to see something like this.

if the series was played on green tops we'd win in a canter.

Yeah ok then. And Deadly you are right it would have to be in a neutral venue, but where? If you include England I mean. And it would have to be held over the course of about 2 months as well?

I'd expect Sharma and Khan (and probably Munaf I guess) to be equally as damaging if not more than the Aussie quicks on a green top. We seem to do better on pitches that help the pace bowlers these days anyway.

The other location I had in mind was the Caribbean, but I'm not sure what type of crowds they'd get. Do people really care about cricket over there?

I seriously doubt that.

Put the SA attack on a greentop and they'd tear everyone apart.

Why not have it in Australia?. As Australia are the world test champions, and it's up to the others to come here and play the champion team in home conditions.

That's a fair point, the top team has obviously earnt that right. Just wanted to keep it as neutral as possible so we get a true reflection of where people think the teams are at.

Yeah I know what you mean about the neutral thing. Also how long would it run for?.

Also I would not like to face Ishant Sharma on a greentop.

Aus v SA in Aus = Aus
Aus v SA in SA = Aus*
Aus v Ind in Aus = Aus
Aus v Ind in Ind = Ind
SA v Ind in SA = SA
SA v Ind in Ind = Ind

Australia, India, SA.

* Would end up being the 'decider'

I'd rather face Sharma on a greentop than Stuart Clark.

We'd win everywhere bar in India against India.

As for the hypotheticals of "which bowling attack would go better on greentops" take into consideration which batting lineup is going to handle a greentop better, again it's Aus.

On current form? India quite easily have the better batting line up and would do better.

Not on pitches away from India.

india would win because swept us in their home series and lost narrowly against us at home... which is what actually transpired :P

for all intensive purposes this "heavyweight" series is really number 2 vs number 3 :P
