Our playing list is currently 31 now. We have 7 picks in total in the draft.
How many players should we look at drafting? IMO, we will use the first 4 picks to bring our list to 35 and leave our list at 35 for next year and play under the limit. However, if Mick Martin and the club can work out a contract before the draft, one of our last 3 picks will be to redraft Mick and we will have a playing list of 36.
IMHO for next season, we should look at a list of 35, 36 if Mick Martin is redrafted or 37 if Mick is redrafted and we pick up someone else. Either way, at least one of our picks won't be used in the draft. We should not have a list of 38 or more for next season but rather have it no more than 36 unless we have to have it 37 with getting Martin back.

a young foward needs to be drafted IMHO
& i hoping u might find a need for ryan fitzgerald
What ever gap there is left in the salary cap divided by the AFL minimum player wages is how many we will draft, be it 4, 5 or 6. There is stirrings to make clubs hold the max no of players on their list. Won't happen this year but.
The club will target the youths they are interested in, and set a preference order and categorise. If they miss out on some of their targets then recently delisted players may be taken back in preference to wasting picks on lesser or unconsidered prospects. Only if they fit the type of player we missed out on.
At least that is what I think should happen. Bar Headland our Premiership Teams are in tact and it looks more and more like the part we got to replace him might just work out OK. The top 24 or so players will not change before the start of next season. Those that have not been able to force their way into this side, and have been more than ready, should be given the chance to play elsewere. Some, like Martin would easily get games at other clubs.
As for my own personal wish list. We need 3 big forwards all fighting to be the 1 to replace Lynchy in 2004 and beyond. The two not selected if classy can be groomed for the back line. Nothing like a bit of competition to bring out your best or to weed out those without enough passion.
My exact thoughts Ian. My only concern in the new year is finding a replacement for Lynchy and training him up. Unfortunately in my opinion Bradshaw is not up to it.

We need to develop a Full Forward in this years draft. We need to go after one and develop him. A young 18, 19 or 20 year old. Regardless of the year Daniel has next year, he will be traded. We get the right player with #5 or #21.

This is as bad as the Liberatore trade idea.
