Hey there young groove things.
I missed the whole elctronic music thing and just put in a good stereo in my car (Pioneer). I would like your advice on one cd compilation of electronic beats that is the best of the best. The definitive album or one that has the most tripped out sounds, and you think you are in a jungle trance getting cooked in a pot by friendly make believe cannibals who are beating magic drums with wiked stix.. I was looking at a few gatecrasher albums and some chillout albums but wouldn't know what to pick. Am willing to spend up to $50 and would like it to cover from chillout to some heavy stuff.

Your help is appreciated. I normally listen to bands such as weezer, the cure, radiohead etc

The coolest album on the market at the moment in my opinion is:

James Lavelle - Barcelona (Global Underground)

It has hip hop, breakbeat, progressive and a few more chilled lyrical tracks all on 2 CD's. Give it a listen in the store though as its about 45 bucks!

A few of my friends who are more band-inclined really like this CD - the whole trance, banging style doesnt go down to well with them. Perfect cross over IMO from that type of music - not cheesey just damn funky!

You'll also like this CD much more in 1 year or 5 years than you will with any trance-style Gatecrasher CD in my opinion.

Also from what you've described (tribal) it might pay to have a listen to Steve Lawler - Lights Out (Global Underground). He's the master of tribal and tripped out sounds!!!!!! CD 1 slowly gets you into the groove - CD 2 is just plain sick and much more uptempo!

There's also a 3cd special edition Ministry of Sound 2002 Annual recently released, valued at a very imprssive $20. Best value pack I have seen. There are some tracks from the original 2002 annual, but most are new. If you are looking for it, it's in a multicoloured box. You may have to ask specifically at your music shop for it.
Also a very good CD is the Human Traffic CD which has a great mix of dance/hip hop/ jungle and alternative music on a double cd disc.

I SAID NICE ONE BRUVVA!!!!

If your wanting some sort of tribal thing then maybe you should look at some Drum n Bass type stuff.

LTJ Bukem - Producer 05 would be a good start there.

As for Compilation types...there are many around that are well worth the money.

My favourite Trance compilations is '21st Century Trance 4'. Quite simply it ****ing rocks. Disc 1 being the best by far.

If you are wanting a bit more variety then try 'Gatecrasher - Experience_'. Has a softer trance, a heavier banging 'stick it up your mother' trance and then a chillout disc as well.

A new one just released - 'GodsKitchen - Summer Trance' is killer!!! Three cds, $40.00

Disc 1 - purely the best Progressive House going around at the moment.

Disc 2 - your more anthemic trance

Disc 3 - your fist pumping harder trance/NRG style.

I recommend it - its well worth it!!!
