View Full Version : Cricket Draft Game 1.0

Seing as we have a footy one up and going, why not have a cricket one

We will hopefully generate enough interest to get a decent competition

As im not really used to running things, how many teams should we have

As there are less international cricket players, i suggest less team (maybe 10 max)

Anyway register your interest, and if there is enough then we will do this

Mop
24 Dec 2008, 19:59
Why not.
I'm in.

Juddy88
24 Dec 2008, 20:03
Should we set it up like the game on the cricket board, where there's points and stuff and the game goes throughout 09?

Keeps it more interesting.

mitchzz
24 Dec 2008, 20:55
Sounds great, I'm in.

Juddy, we could have points but I'd lose interest after awhile, I'd rather just a draft.

beatlesmith
24 Dec 2008, 21:24
Yeah, i'm in.
Will probably lose horribly, but meh.
Will this only be international/national players, or will it also include those in 20/20 leagues, such as warne?

mitchzz
24 Dec 2008, 21:54
Yeah, it should. More players to choose and it's more interesting.

Juddy88
24 Dec 2008, 22:38
Way to complicated if it involves all the IPL/ICL/Domestic teams.

Keep it simple, just international IMO. Easier to keep track off and I'm sure we all don't know every ICL player :p

mitchzz
29 Dec 2008, 00:45
Can we start?

Mop
29 Dec 2008, 09:02
5 teams is a bit minimal really.. we need a few more.

Juddy88
29 Dec 2008, 13:43
Points or no points? Like a fantasy cricket league.

Flawed Genius
29 Dec 2008, 13:54
Same as the footy one, if I'm allowed I'll give it a go.

Crimson King
30 Dec 2008, 12:29
I is in.

mitchzz
30 Dec 2008, 12:38
6 is enough, eventually we'll be picking crappy no name players... 7 if FG plays.

Flawed Genius
30 Dec 2008, 12:40
Well am I allowed?

Juddy88
30 Dec 2008, 13:01
Yeah you should be fine mate. Sure no one would disagree. As beatle said anyone else though :thumbsd:
:D

Anyway, happy said he is away till Friday, so what are we doing?

Still no answer on the points question :p

mitchzz
30 Dec 2008, 13:27
How would we use a points system? Points for runs, and then wickets, maidens, etc? It would be hard unless you alreay know a good system otherwise it's a good idea.

Juddy88
30 Dec 2008, 14:59
Maybe something like;

Points will be awarded:
1 points per run
20 points per wicket
5 points per catch/stumping/run out (thrower not receiver)

Each team will have a captain, whose points will be worth double

The only selection restriction will be that you MUST have 4 specialist bowlers... whether you select 7 wicket keepers with your other positions is your choice! Also only 2 players max from each test nation, although there is no restriction on amount ZIM and BAN players.

Pretty simple, there are some more complicated ones but I prefer it like this as it's much easier to keep track.

Hah, I don't know any of their players anyways. :p

I say we also have points for maidens because bowlers can bowl awesome but take no wickets... oh this is kinda the same with the AFL and Dream Team, lol.

I like the system, and I just wanna start the draft now. :thumbsu:

Juddy88
30 Dec 2008, 16:29
Well happy's away atm so it'll be a bit hard.. Would have been good (if points system is used) to get started by the new year..

RoJo Junior
30 Dec 2008, 21:25
Oh yeah may i be a late entry to this i looked at it and was trying to comprehend how the hell it'd work.

Tatenda Taibu ftw! Go Zimbabwe!

And the good ol' Bangers and Mash superstar Mohamed Rafique :D

Crimson King
31 Dec 2008, 11:54
**** I wanted Taibu as my WK.:mad::p:D

mitchzz
31 Dec 2008, 22:42
I'm gonna suck when it comes to international players other than India and South Africa, gonna have to do some research. :p

3 Jan 2009, 16:07
Ok i am back (and yes i did have a good time)

I will randomise a draft order now, and then we can commence

Oh shit, wtf.

I'm going last and have a crappy double pick. :( I hate double picks...

Oh well. :)

Juddy88
3 Jan 2009, 17:53
It'll be hard to count points though, as there are 3 matches played today. Do we include them?

mitchzz
3 Jan 2009, 18:18
Nope. Don't include any points until we all have our teams, when we have them we wait till any matches going on at the time end and then we start.

I'm so gonna win this. :)

Flawed Genius
3 Jan 2009, 18:24

mitchzz
6 Jan 2009, 18:19
Symmo adds depth, basically 3 players in one, plus a great fielder.

Juddy88
6 Jan 2009, 20:23
Sehwag

RoJo Junior
9 Jan 2009, 21:52
Thats just greedy. I take it we're using the pts system then and not judging the teams like in the draft game. Go the all rounders. Vettori hopefully score 50+ and take 5 wickets a game :thumbsu:

beatlesmith
11 Jan 2009, 19:03
Juddy's pick now.
C'mon people!

beatlesmith
11 Jan 2009, 19:06
clarification on the rules, do the specialist bowlers have runs counted aswell?
Some specialist bowlers like johnson, vettori, bravo etc are competent batsmen aswell, so surely their runs count aswell??

Juddy88
11 Jan 2009, 20:56
Yeah they count.

Steyn for me.

mitchzz
11 Jan 2009, 22:14
I'm guessing it's Beatle's pick now?

beatlesmith
11 Jan 2009, 22:50

Juddy88
15 Jan 2009, 21:40
Been a couple of days since CKs pick. So I'll take Michael Clarke.

Do we still want to continue with this game? Doesn't look like it's really going anywhere..

happy_eagle
15 Jan 2009, 21:48
Yeh it isnt really going anywhere
I am happy to pull it as i am in the middle of one on the cricket board

mitchzz
15 Jan 2009, 22:19
