Leigh Matthews could tell me the sky was really a shade of purple and I would probably believe him. Most of the Lions players would probably feel the same way i'd imagine. Recently he had stated that we will be in for as much pain as Essendon next year with regard to losing top-class players. He says he will do what is best for the footy club, and will be honest and upfront with players about who may be traded, rather than stab them in the back while they holiday overseas.
What a brilliant way to motive players for next year. If fit, players will only have themselves to blame if they are not around for the Quadruple Premiership Year in 2004. Players that do not play to their potential next year will be on the block faster than the chicken that won't lay. With training only weeks away the only future worth worrying about now is next year. I have a good feeling and considering a few of the boys had average years really, then next year, with futures on the line, the Lions may even widen the gap.
