I reckon we'll get the fifth pick.

Seriously - a key position player I hope. I've got no idea about the draft other than the 'perceived wisdom' that it's light on for talent.

methinks a full foward - although its sad to say but Lynchy might give it away @ th end ot the year 2003 :(

I hope the Lions attempt to draft a key position player, but with Pick#5, they will probably go for the best player available and in what is supposed to be an even draft, perhaps go for a key position player with #21. I've listed the candidates that I think we might go for, although I haven't counted Wells or Goddard as they'll be long gone, by the time #5 arrives.

SMALL MIDFIELDERS

James Allan VIC Geelong Falcons 170 cm
Fearless inside onballer who is excellent in close. All Australian in AFL U18’s representing Victoria Country. Sounds like an excellent replacement for Shaun Hart.

David Kellett SA Central Districts 178 cm
Inside centreman who can play forward and kick goals. Possesses excellent disposal skills and is a good decision maker. All Australian in 2002 in AFL U18’s. Member AIS/AFL Academy in 2001/2002. Again could possibly be a ready replacement for Shaun Hart or Marcus Ashcroft.

Byron Schammer VIC/SA West Adelaide 175 cm
Dynamic inside midfielder with excellent skills both sides. Has great work rate which saw him win Larke Medal in AFL U18’s and All Australian honours. Member AIS/AFL Academy in 2001/2002. Recipient of a Mike Fitzpatrick/AFLPA Scholarship in 2001 which assisted relocation from Loxton to West Adelaide.

Paul Shelton QLD Morningside 177 cm
Inside player with clean hands and neat disposal skills. Had excellent AFL U18 Championships winning All Australian honours. I don't think he's a chance at #5, but MAY be drafted at #21 or #33 IF, Schammer or Kellett aren't picked up earlier.

MEDIUM MIDFIELDERS

Jarrad McVeigh NSW/ACT Rams 182 cm
Extremely athletic player who is strong overhead and a good decision maker. Joint winner of McLean Medal in AFL U16’s in 2001 but injured shoulder whilst representing Australian U17 team in Ireland in 2002. He also appeals, but with the Lions' plethora of medium midfielders is unlikely to reach Brisbane's second pick at #21.

Steven Salopek VIC Dandenong Stingrays 183 cm
Tremendous ball winner in midfield. Can also play forward and kick goals or tight in defence. All Australian in U18’s this year after being AIS/AFL Academy member in 2001-2002. From Narre Warren FC. I think we're a real chance to pick this lad up, as it's possible he'll be around at #5 and appparently is very highly regarded by many recruiters.

MEDIUM FORWARDS/DEFENDERS

Daniel Bell Glenelg 187 cm
Strong in the contest and versatile player who can play forward and kick goals. SA U18 representative this year winning All Australian honours. Member AIS/AFL Academy in 2001/2002. Possibility to be picked up maybe at #33, if he still around.

TALL FORWARDS/DEFENDERS
42 Jared Brennan Sthn Districts 191 cm
Quick and versatile left footer who is good overhead. Impressive member of NT U18 team which won AFL U18’s Division 2 title winning All Australian honours. Centre half back or forward material perhaps. Perhaps migth still around at #21.

Jay Schulz WW Torrens 191 cm
Strong marking forward who can go back. Member AIS/AFL Academy in 2001-2002 winning Ron Barassi Medal as the Series best and fairest player in Australia v. Ireland U17’s this year. SA U18 representative in 2002. Distinct possibility to go in Top 10, so if not picked at #5, we won't be getting him.

Tim Walsh Northern Knights 194 cm
Strong overhead with an excellent spring. Season curtailed by injury mid year. Member AIS/AFL Academy in 2001-2002 and Victoria Metro representative this year. From Ivanhoe FC. Sounds a good replacement for Alistair Lynch, perhaps even ahead of Paul Johnson (see below)

Stephen Gilham Oakleigh Chargers 190 cm
Athletic and agile player who is good at ground level. Victoria Metro captain in winning AFL U18 Championship this year. From Beverley Hills JFC, Paul Roos old club. If picked would have to be groomed for a centre half back position.

RUCKMEN
67 Paul Johnson Dandenong Stingrays 197 cm
Athletic ruckman/forward who is strong overhead and accurate kick at goal on his preferred left foot. Member AIS/AFL Academy in 2000-2001. Victoria Metro representative this year winning All Australian honours. From Frankston YCW This is the guy I'd picking at #5, if he was still around. Could be perfect for an Alistair Lynch type of role, especially at 197 cm.

Daniel Merrett Southport 194 cm
Former Rugby player with less than 12 months experience in football. Made rapid rise to represent Queensland State U18 team this year. Very strong in the contest and overhead. Candidate for the Lions' rookie list.

My order for #5.

Paul Johnson
Steven Salopek
Tim Walsh
Jay Schulz
Byron Schammer
Stephen Gilham

My order for #21 (depending on #5 pick)
James Allan
Jarrad McVeigh
Paul Shelton
Jared Brennan
David Kellett

MY order for #33.
Paul Shelton
David Kellett
Jared Brennan
Daniel Bell
Daniel Merrett

nope he can nominate for this draf coming up

i know that injuries are a factor but to see him without a club whilest injured is soooooooooooo unfair

1. his football 'worth' could be non-existant &
2. where in the hell is he gonna rehabilitate????????

NO FAIR

:(
