View Full Version : Bad Company
I know I am young, and this band is well, a 70s band. But I am well into 70s music as I was pretty much brought up with it.
Anyways ...
Bad Company has re-formed with some of their original members and have toured and made a new DVD.
Paul Rogers is back behind the microphone after a long solo part for himself.
Simon Kirke is still the drummer.
Dave Colwell is the lead guitarist, and he joined Bad Company somewhre along the way but wasnt the original as I believe Mick Ralphs was.
Anyways they are back together and playing Bad Companys original music. They are also said to be releasing some new stuff. So should be interesting.
Many of you may not even know Bad Company, but anywho!
Good solid rock band,
Your right about about Mick Ralphs, he wrote most of the early stuff. Paul Rodgers is IMO underrated as a vocalist.

Not by me. :)
Paul Rodgers is up there with Glenn Hughes as having the smoothest voice in rock. I don't think he's ever sung anything badly.

Certainly true, and he only getting better. He must be about 50 now, but he sounds as good if not better than he ever has before.

Paul Rogers still sounds great and they do all the well know tunes as well as a few "Free" songs as well with guest appearances from Slash and Neil Schon. Great stuff.

My dad has it.
I was looking on the net to see if they had released anything new, and I found the DVD.
Got it a few weeks ago. I just find it so amazing how good Paul Rogers still is.
They still haven't lost anything over the years thats for sure.
And I loved seeing All Right Now and Wishing Well from the Free days .. Awesome stuff.

He makes Hughes look like a dud, a vastly better singer IMO.
And don't forget that Rodgers was the voice of Free before moving onto Bad Company. Two bloody ripper bands !!

Free were awesome. Its a shame they broke up I guess, and I think the death of their guitarist would have had a lot to do with it (damn he was talented).

I've seen Bad Company a coupe of times in the past 5 years or so. They opened for Nugent once and also headlined a small venue tour.
They were "discovered" by Led Zeppelin. Zep assisted BC when they were fledling and put them on their (new at the time) 'Swan Song' label.
IMO BC is as good as they ever were. So if you listen to their older studio stuff and like them; you will live also.
I hope they tour OZ soon. It would be good for them and you'll appreciate them.

I have been brought up on their kind of music, and remember walking around the house as a 5-6 year old singing to Bad Company. Great music.
Unfortunately I dont hold much hope for them touring Australia.
Free came here once in the early 70s, but Bad Company have never made an appearance down under....
:(
The two best rock voices were John Lennon and Paul Rodgers.
Free had some great songs and so did Bad Company.
You have latched on to something there Mase.

Unfortunately the majority of people on Bigfooty are going 'Bad who?'
Such for their non appearances in Australia.

John Lennon was a great song-writer, and his voice - at best - should be considered 'non-annoying.' He was so nasal, he sounded like someone singing through three noses. I'm not complaining. I have all his stuff.
Great voices? Pre-1995 Robert Plant. That's a freakin' rock voice.

Paul Rogers toured Australia in 2001 with Roger Daltrey, Alice Cooper & many others in the Ultimate Rock'n'Roll Symphony or some such. He was excellent.

Yep I know! I went to it! It was awesome!!!!
But unfortunately Paul Rogers was sick and we only got a couple of songs.
Instead they replaced the rest of his act with .. none other than .. Jimmy Barnes ... what a let down

Consider yourself lucky you got to see him sing that many songs, a bus load of people I went to see the Canberra show with were literally pulling into Bruce Stadium when the word came through that the show was cancelled because either Roger Daltry or Paul Rodgers (can't remember which now) was involved in a car accident in Sydney on the day of the Canberra show. IIR, they were heading to the airport to catch the plane to travel to the Canberra show. Or so the story went.
Was so looking forward to seeing that concert, dammit. So we went to the Casino for a bit, then stopped at the Murrambateman pub on the way home for about 3 hours, ended up being a bloody funny night.

Thats a bad luck story for ya mate!
Its a shame you didn't get to see it. I really enjoyed it. I have been brought up on a heap of 70's music, so It was a really great experience to see the show. Hopefully they will come out this way with a similar thing again so you can see it... :(
I see you live in Temora, the mob I work for (Community Technology Centre Program) have a technology centre there!
I live in Bathurst too :)

Bad Company were the support band for the Rolling Stones when they toured Oz in the 70's.

You must have gone to the same gig I did out at the Superdome ?? Rodgers came on and did "Can't Get Enough" and then went back to the hotel room to rest his voice as he had the flu. Jeez, you don't think I was dirty about that !! However, his band was one of the supports for Alice Cooper so he made up for it that nite.
At the Rock Symphony gig, couldn't bloody believe it when Barnsey came to do a duet with that red-headed woman with the incredible voice on Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir". Did he murder it or what ???? Too many "aaarrggh's" in the intro, thought he was back in front of the Chisel. Should have just shutup and let her sing it as she was really terrific.
