You didn't go after Barnaby French when you had the chance and you delist Alessio. What's Sheedy up to now?
My answer:
You're going to poach Matthew Allan. You freed up 800K worth of midfield in Caracella, Heffernan and Blumfield and got draft picks and Cupido and McPhee in return, that means you save 400K.
I don't believe for a minute that your salary cap problems are as bad as, say, possibly ours:eek: , and 400K is more than what we've offered to Allan.
I don't believe Sheedy when he says he doesn't want another stress-fracture case. You need a ruckman badly. You delisted Alession when you needed a ruckman...heck...nothing surprises me anymore.
Would you take Allan?
BTW, you can have his manager too.
I dont think they will waste their time with an overpaid hack like Allen who seems to want big money based on 1 good season a few years ago.
I think you will find they may persist with Hille in the hope he will come good.

I don't want him. BTW your theory would mean you lose him for nothing. Can't see that happening.

Pornstar, what are our options if he still doesn't take the contract we've offered him?
Trade week is over.
Great, we're getting ruckmen from Carlton now??
WTF??
Thanks but no thanks.

Well, we've lost Fish, so now what?
i think we should take allan
i definitely think hille will step up this year but we need 2 ruckman and taking 2 younger inexperienced ruckman into this season will not help us so i believe we should get allan.
You are probably right, Stealth, especially at this point.
I don't like it much though...
Part of me still hankers for the good old days...where you could see the matches at Windy Hill, there were still a lot of local guys running around for Essendon, North or (if they fancied themselves) Carlton, north of the Yarra, and players played most of their career in the one jumper without a multi-million dollar business on their backs.
Then I wake up and realise that Essendon weren't actually all that successful in the period I'm talking about.
So what would I know?

Should have traded for Benny Marsh while you had the chance ... a 4th rounder would have been OK. ;)
From reports, Paddy Steinfort (the REAL Steinfort), from Richmond/Coburg, could be an option.

Latest reports seem to indicate that Allan has walked out on Carlton.
Look out for him to drive to Windy Hill.
Oh, I forgot, he can't drive with those stress fractures in his feet.

I say take him, we have nothing to lose if we put him on a performance based contract.

If Essendon can entice Ricky Mott out of the pizza joints and the nightclubs and make him train to play football, he'd be well worth drafting.

I think we need to try & get Mott with him & Hille our Ruck should be pretty good for at least 5-8 years think you need to draft a new ruck player about every 4 years as kids & hope they develop by the time the older rucks are ready to retire.
