View Full Version : TV In Treatment **Possible Spoilers**
In Treatment is a HBO drama about a therapist and the sessions he has with four sets of patients. The show airs five nights a week, with each character having one episode per week. The Friday show is the therapist visiting with his shrink. I think there were something like 43 episodes in the first season.
Pretty sure In Treatment is an American adaptation of an Israeli drama, although I could be wrong (too lazy to look it up).
Show apparently has great writing (typical HBO) and performances. Gabriel Byrne plays the therapist and received a Golden Globe for his performance, and Melissa George was also nominated for her role as one of his patients.
In the process of acquiring the first season, but have already watched the first episode. Was bloody good, and if this is any indication to the level of quality then I think I'll be hooked.
Anyone else seen this show?

I couldn't afford under my internet plan to download the episodes when they were originally coming out five nights a week so I got a friend to hook me up with the first season.
Really like the show, it has a great concept and Gabriel Byrne (an actor I really rate) is very good. It might not quite be the quality of previous HBO shows, but its pretty close and barring Dexter it would be IMO the best show currently in production. I would recommend it to anyone.
It's been quite a wait for season 2 though.

Melissa George really proves herself a great actress based on her work from this show. Really some wonderful work.
As for the show itself all I do is repeat what's already been said. It's well written, the acting is brilliant but your interest in the show really depends upon whether or not you'd think you would enjoy watching two or three people sitting in a room chatting about their problems or issues, mostly in a confrontational manner.

Have watched the first week of episodes from season 2 in the last few days. Pretty solid start, John Mahoney's character in particular I think has great promise.

Just finished Season 1 (43 eps in total) and I thought it was great. Probably a show I wouldn't normally watch, but I found it very addictive. The characters Laura, Alex & Sophie were the highlights.
Will wait till Season 2 finishes and d/load as a complete season.

Slowly working my way through this, I'm about halfway through S1.
Alex is far and away the most interesting and the couple the least.
Hard not to like the skank Laura too.
Gabriel Byrne quite rightly won a G Globe for his performance, I love how he rips shreds through his therapist at the end of the week.

just finished season 1, fantastic series
laura - the tension between her and paul was really good, when she slept with alex the next few weeks were pretty intense
sophie - really really enjoyed her in the end, thought paul did his best work with her, not because she ended up being "cured" (lack of a better word), but the way paul probed her and got her to realize things for herself
amy and jake - jake was really under rated i thought, the guy was alot smarter than you first realized and he really benefited from the therapy, the way amy ended it was pretty crappy but at the same time, probably pretty real
alex - goddam he was a fascinating character, every session was just an explosion waiting to happen, after he had investigated paul the progress was quite full on, his dad was brilliant as well, he was portrayed exactly as i imagined alex' father to be

Just finished watching season two of "In Treatment" quite a solid season. Although the finale was a bit hollow.
The first three days of each week were particularly strong. Hopefully we get a third season where we see what Paul does with his life.

Anyone still watching this show finished watching the 3rd season recently. The scenes between Gabriel Byrne and Irfan Kahn are the best of the series.
