Don't know why it is making such big news on the websites we all knew he would be back. Good to see Warner still there.

Presumably Harris is the player to make way?

Very nice news, he can bowl at the death now.

Phew. Go Mitchy !

Harris to make way? I'd also bring in Tait for White/Hopes. Haddin to #4 as he is wasted down the order. Hussey to bat with the tail.

Warner
Marsh
Ponting
Haddin
D.Hussey
M.Hussey
Hopes/White
Johnson
Bracken
Hilfenhaus
Tait

Yep free to play for Queensland on Wed.

one of the husseys has got to go at the end. We need players who are explosive and those two are little more than journymen.

Exactly the team I had although I had Hauritz in over Hilfy for the SCG as I feel we could use a specialist spinner. But more than happy if Hilfy is retained.

Good to see Johnson come back in for the One Dayers.

Added advantage is that Harris is free to play in the preliminary final on Wednesday

Yeah agree, we need a bit more variety in the attack rather than just Hopes and four pacemen.

The way Queensland played on Thursday night, they won't need Harris. They absolutely demolished us :(

Mike Hussey's a journeyman?

they are great workers of the ball, but they are hardly going to take 20+ off an over. We are weak in the middle order with a bunch of nurdlers.

david does have the second fastest odi 50 for australia and mike has a strike rate of 85 higher than ponting and hayden

I reckon we'll go:

Warner
Marsh
Ponting
M Hussey
D Hussey
White
Haddin
Johnson
Hauritz
Bracken
Tait

- They got away with Dussey (plus White) as a 5th bowler in Tassie. Especially under lights (if bowling 2nd) at the SCG, they'd get away with him again.

- I reckon they might just rest Hopes, i'm a big fan of him but he hasn't got a great record at the SCG.

- Lets have a look at Hauritz and give Hilf a rest.

- If we lose and Warner fails again, i'd be calling it quits on him and opening with Hopes until we can think of a better idea.

- White's under pressure too, but lets be honest he's just keeping the seat warm for Symonds who'll be back in Feb. I think they'll keep him in the XI for now though.

Oh, and Johnson back is awesome for the side.

In career best bowling and batting form, plus very good in the field. Gun.

thank goodness. we need him and he is our answer for the death bowler with bracken

maybe against WI Dave can make a few runs... but i just don't think he has the power required to bat in the middle order in ODI.

mike bats at the end of the innings, you would expect him to average higher strike rate.

The SA top order might be relieved to have some pace to time some of their shots such as Amla and Gibbs. Hilfenhaus and Bracken should always bowl first change. For some reason, Amla struggles against accurate medium pace.

I wouldn't have both Tait and Johnson unless if Australia are confident that they can bamboozle them with pace and bowl them out cheaply. If Gibbs negotiates the first couple of overs against both bowlers, he can be very dangerous against their pace. It's better to use the medium pacers and choke him down like they did in Hobart.

Good to see that he is back in the team. Now who goes out of the team.... :D
Probably be Hopes or Harris.

reminds me of the 1992 world cup with dibbly dobbly and wobbly from NZ bowling medium pacers

Maybe open with Hopes and let Warner play "Symonds" role in the middle order away from the new ball where he might even take advantage of a batting powerplay

good to have him back that is for sure. our middle order need to produce some runs during the power play and scg is an absolute batting paradise in odi's. a big score is on the cards

That'd be fine by me too - although it'd mean 3 different opening partners for Marsh in 3 games.

Be interesting to see if any of Hopes, White or Dussey will miss Friday after not being released for the other night. Unlikely I have to say now.

Johnson and Tait for Hilf and Harris might be the only changes, but it'd be good to have a look at Hauritz.
