View Full Version : Best Oasis song
An issue that is getting a run in the 'under/overrated song' thread. M29 claims Don't Go Away, coxon (without a hint of sarcasm :D ) claims Cigarettes & Alcohol, therealdingo is a fan of Live Forever.
Of course, you're all wrong and it's Whatever, but what would I know? So, what's your fave?
And if you vote other, can you name it?

'I Hope, I Think, I Know' has always been a favourite. It's just got that 'up and go' about it.
Conversely, I like 'Into the Night' because it's so serene - almost sends me to sleep... but in a good way.
'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' is quickly becoming a favourite.
Others are:
She Is Love
Born On a Different Cloud
She's Electric
Up In the Sky
Some Might Say
and
an acoustic bootleg I've got called 'Angel Child', very different.
To start with, "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" is brilliant, yet not listed.
Don't Go Away is great
Columbia & D'yer want to be a spaceman are my two favorites by a long way.
Love Rockin Chair
Round Are Way
Talk Tonight
Anyway, my other vote was for the rarely heard Sad Song
I think in general Heathan Chemisty is by far the most under rated album.

Don't Look Back In Anger is their best song
Wonderwall, She's Electric, Ciggarettes and Alcohol, Little By Little, Acquiese (sp?) and most of the other stuff of the first two albums are all favourites too

Don't Look Back In Anger
Well Moc, looks like you and I are the only ones to vote for our respective faves. :)
Other Faves:
Boneheads Bank Holiday
Round Are Way
It's Getting Better (Man!)
My Big Mouth
The Fame
Stand By Me
Sad Song

With only hearing 3 of those songs, you can tell I'm not a die-hard fan. However I'd have to go with Whatever.
I'm also a fan of 'Round Are Way' and 'Half the World Away'. But I can't deny my frequent 'Wonderwall' singalongs. 'Don't Look Back in Anger' is still a terrific song.

nah, as much as i dislike the twat brothers...
i do own the first two albums...
'cigarettes & alcohol' is my choice...
Is it my imagina-shiiionn...
Or have I finally found something worth living for?
I was looking for some ac-shiiioonn...
But all I found was cigarettes and alcohol :D

I picked Don't Look Back In Anger BUT a hard choice.
Acquiesce is great and I am a big big fan of The Hindu Times. I was so happy when I first heard it that they had gone back to that big f*ck-off stadium rock sound!
Little By Little is also awesome. Love She's Electric, Roll With It, Shaker Maker, Champagne Supernova, Hello, D'you Know What I Mean . . . very biased here as I do enjoy most of their tunes.

D'you Know What I Mean
Girl In The Dirty Shirt - surprisingly not mentioned yet??

Don't Look Back in Anger, then Supersonic
What an impossible poll!
It's so hard to pick one song, but in terms of what it did for Oasis, it's gotta be 'Wonderwall'.
I spent many beer fuelled nights in America last summer, bashing out the Oasis tunes on Karaoke. Different songs each night, the same buzz every time. Magic.
Favourite song to hear live: Roll With It. It just gets the crowd going nuts!

I like the one where Noel and Liam try to look tough by either snarling or giving a two finger salute in the video. Oh wait, that could be any of their rubbish.

My personal favorite is 'Don't Look Back in Anger' followed closely by 'Cigarettes and Alcohol'.

Love the signature A-Tron. One of the real thinkers of our time
Used to be Wonderwall, but Little by Little has grown on me.

"So I'll start the revolution from my bed
Cos you said the brains I had went to my head
Step outside the summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out"
Yep - Don't look back in Anger for me - the lyrics above are pretty damn good.

I prefer Noel's voice in a lot of songs, too. I keep finding that my favourites are all sung by him. That said, Liam can spin a pretty good tune himself.

Wouldn't mind hearing a solo album from Noel, wouldn't be as successful as an Oasis album but still would be well worth buying

Definitely, I'd be in on that
Who sings "She is love"?? I don't remember hearing it at the forum, and I don't think it sounds like either of them?

It's Noel. I got the interview disc free when I bought Heathen Chemistry and he was saying about how he always avoided using the word "love" before because it was a bit naff, now he says he's 35 and middle-aged so he can wear cardigans and sing about love now as much as he likes (or words to that effect!)
