i went along to windy hill yesterday and watched the open training session which went for close to 2 hrs. i will go thru player by player of ones with something to note (all those missed out you can count as having done standard training).

jay neagle - appeared to hurt his hand and went off during the session. looked pretty annoyed which is reasonable given the amount of work he has continually missed.

scott gumbleton - refer to player spotting for my thread.

jason winderlich - participated in most of training avoiding the contact drills.

brent prismall - did a reasonable amount of running and was kicking the ball okay mostly separate. was only running half pace but could sense he wanted to be with the main group.

mark mcveigh - was training at full intensity with lots of enthusiasm (it was his birthday)

andrew lovett - was constantly at the front of the pack (along with stanton) which signalled his body language is good and he is keen to impress.

courtenay dempsey - has built up his upper body. silky mover he is so impressive.

tayte pears - developing into a monster. the next d.glass?

david hille - did the full session - didn't look to be running at full intensity. will miss nab cup opener.

michael still - didn't join the main group at all and did minimal training. of those out on the ground he did the least amount of training.

michael hurley - didn't spot him not sure if it was an oversight but i don't think he was there at all.

s.lucas - did the full session and seemed to be training to his usual standards. will miss nab cup opener though.

laycock - joined in a few drills but for the most part was jogging laps of windy hill (was running for quite some time). will miss nab cup and would be doubtful in the early part of season proper.

d.daniher - rotated between mod group and full training. looked to be training quite well. similar to winderlich avoided the contact drills.

a.davey - did the full session and looked to be moving quite well. will likely be held back from nab cup opener though.

tyson slattery - pretty sure it was him - got knocked out by mark mcveigh in the tackling drills. was a decent hit! he'll be right though.

bachar houli - can't remember seeing him out there.

tom bellchambers - looking good, moving well. nice size and decent pace/agility. i'd expect to see him in the seniors come r1.

More importantly, how did the selected boys go at singing the national anthem?

the background music was fairly loud, they had some kids there singing it with them so you couldn't really hear them that well. from what i could hear that was a good thing - lloyd has a terrible singing voice. the kids enjoyed it which was the main thing.

Main Bombers page, and one of the top threads.

Anyone know if/why Houli wasn't training?

For those of you that have BomberTV there's some footage from the day including the players singing the national anthem (lucky they're good footballers!)

Really looking after us interstaters...

And those of us who forgot about it the night before and then slept in the next morning :o
Dang tennis kept me up during the night! Upset that i missed the training session.

Feel sorry for Neagle, I really want him to succeed but he keeps getting hampered by some type of injury, it's not fair!

Nice to hear Bellchambers is looking good. One of the players I have been very keen and keeping a close eye on since he was drafted.

Noticed this too, would have done at least 10 + laps. Looks bigger in the shoulders as well.

Happy Birthday to Spike for yesterday.

Wonder why Houli wasn't there:(

Houli- didn't see him

unfortunately i think i was right re hurley as another poster suggested he was in hospital recovering from surgery (sounds legit). that would have to rule him out of the nab cup - looks like hooker and ryder will be the key defenders for that.

fingers crossed houli has no issue...

The Gall bladder is usually done by laparoscopic surgery similar to having a knee.

Hurley should be able to return to training in 2 weeks.

He should be available for the third week of the NAB cup with normal progression.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's earlier than that. It's very minor surgery, I had mine removed last year and came home the next day and went about business as usual.

Houli's popped his head up, so there no reason to think he's injured...
