View Full Version : Radio Southern Cross radio female newsreaders
Has anyone else noticed how most of the female Southern Cross newsreaders are bumbling bozos ?
There's one named Jennifer Leak who stuffs up nearly every bulletin by playing the wrong sound grab or stuffing up the lines and then instead of correcting it just simply drops the story halfway through it.Now there's a new chick named Gayle Watson who is just as bad.She stuffs up a lot and this morning she said Jelena Dokic was knocked out in straight sets.She then read the score of all 3 sets :rolleyes:
The other female readers aren't much better,which probably explains why they're on at night,overnight and weekends.It's female versions of Mark Doran.
David "A.A" Armstrong and Tony Tardio should do every bulletin
For those who don't know Southern Cross news is done by 3AW but airs on a lot of stations like SEN,Magic,3MP,3CS and lot's of country stations.
P.S this is not a sexist thread.It's a thread of fact.Listen yourself and you'll agree.

I don't want to hear a bad word said about Alexandra Factor. She's a fair sort and she loves cricket. I read her blog ages ago where she said she loves nothing more than to sit at the WACA and watch state cricket!
We had a Facebook thread on the old TLC and back then, her profile was public. Lucky I always copy images to imageshack :thumbsu: (other girl is her sister)

They all are horrible at it. I think it's Tony, anyway one of the blokes is horrible, I think he's the morning guy and has the over the top smooth voice, he stuffs up regularly.

I imagine that whoever is in charge of hiring them is doing because of their looks?

On a side note, just before the news starts I always try and guess who it will be, I get a small sense of satisfaction when I'm right.

Tony Tardio and David 'Ballstrong' are excellent newsreaders, and Alexandra Factor is solid (in every respect).
The OP is spot on though, Jennifer Leak, Kim Healy and a few others can't get through a 4 minute bulletin without at least a couple of errors.
Her sister's name is Rebecca :)

Halfway through the 6.30 bulletin this morning, Gayle Watson said, and i quote:
"And now with Wednesday is news"
Even if you forget the fact it's actually Thursday, it still doesn't make sense.
Thankfully the producers cut away to a news story/finance report rather than let her suffer the inevitable awkward silence.
I'm a girl and you are not being sexist. Most of them are so cringe making. The worst IMO was Brigitte Duclos back in the mid '90's when she read the morning news on Triple M. ABSOFCUKINLUTELY HOPELESS...her pronunciation of basic words and Victorian towns was hopeless. Many a time Richard Stubbs would pull her up on it with that "i'm really pi$$ed off with this bimbo" tone in his voice...

Regardless of what you think of the male versus female debate - you'd have to be an idiot to listen to 3AW news.
It's aimed at the IQ level of a intellectually challenged ten year old/;) Collingwood supporter.

but if you listen to SEN you get the AW news because it's them [Southern Cross] who do it.

Sad but true.
Fact is 3AW pays very little to its newsroom and doesn't value quality.
They assume their audience is a bunch of morons who live on a diet of Herald Sun and Today Tonight and can't think for themselves...so feed them crap
