Further to Stealth's thread about the ad seeking good looking people for a music career..
Even though modelling seems to have taken over music, who are the ugliest bands?
Were they succesful despite their ugliness? Or could they have gone on to greater things if they were 'pretty'?
The Rolling Stones were pretty successful and Mick's shocking head didn't stop him scoring with multitudes of women and even a few boys.
The Hoodoo Gurus were pretty shocking looking but an awesome band, Dave Faulkner even admitted they may have gone further if they were better looking.
Not From There have heads like smashed crabs.
80's Perth band the Dugites were pretty ugly but never got anywhere anyway.

Shane MacGowan from The Pogues is a very shocking looking individual. Rose Tattoo weren't too pretty either.

Jon English had a fair amount of success for a less than pretty bloke. Also, Ric Ocasek from The Cars.

N Sync are the least attractive boy band going around....so my fiancee tells me.
Richard Ashcroft managed to overcome his physical appearance.
Likewise Tim Rogers.
I reckon Even would be a lot more popular as well, if their lead singer (Ashley Naylor), wasn't a rotund, red-headed dwarf. :(

Billy Corgan did well for an ugly bastard. Ditto Maynard James Keenan and all of The Offspring. I wouldn't exactly call Thom Yorke dead sexy either.

Aerosmith -Steve Tyler looks like Mick Jaggers brother,but at least they can sing.I doubt they'd survive on their looks.

Yeah good point if your ugly you can play music. If your attractive generally you can't play music.
Tim Rogers made me laugh the time he said once between songs "Guitair I only picked it up because I thought it would get girls for an ugly guy like me!!"

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. He's an absolute Sav Rocca. I also find The Cruel Sea generally unattractive, ditto The Fauves and Jebediah. When you have to have debate over what sex the bass player is, it's all wrong.

I think Billy Corgan's looks aren't too far detatched from what most people would expect in a rock-musician. Sure, if you saw him walking down the street he'd stick out a fair bit, being a tall, lanky, bald guy who can stare like a demon, but that look certainly has certainly a place in the music world - especially with the Pumpkins' style of music.
Thom Yorke as well, even though he is a dwarf, tends to blend in fairly well with that image that is associated with "coffee-table" or "lounge" music.
I reckon Liam Gallagher looks like a bit of a freak, actually.

True, although, Wally is more your sort of Saturday local-league back-pocket football player, whereas Ash is pretty much just a chipmunk. :D (Bloody great guitarist/song-writer though!).

Twisted Sister were frighteningly ugly wearing paint on their faces. Somehow it got worse with it scrubbed off.
Kiss & Aerosmith are uglier than the cantina band in Star Wars.
Calling the Stones ugly is like calling Winter cold. Keith Richards was so freakin' nasty-looking as a youngster that he's actually got better. His liver belongs in a museum - or the altar artifact of some chemical religion.
It's usually the teeth that sinks them. I could have been a rock star, but my teeth are bright, even and situated logically. Sucks. I would like to have been a rock star - for the usual reasons.

That's the friggin' point of this thread.. it seems these days that you have to have looks to get any sort of airplay/recording deal despite how good a musician you are. Look at the bands on the charts.. look at the damn boy bands! You think they'd be a hit if they looked like they were plucked straight from the outer at a Collingwood home game?

With hair, he looks quite normal. Without hair he is possibly the strangest looking individual I have ever seen.
Motorhead's ugliness is legendary, and locally I reckon Pegazus are some pretty nasty looking lads.

Looks like the 'men' from Creed are on steroids.
Someone from Jebediah, I think one of the guitarists...it's pretty nasty and I'm not so sure about it's gender either.
