I saw this ridiculous news report on channel 7, obviously from NSW. It went something like this...
"Brett Lee got 10 wickets in the Pura Cup match against Tasmania, and if that doesn't knock sense into the selections then nothing ever will. Brett Lee will be pushing for Andy Bichel's spot in the 2nd test, who only managed to dismiss 2 English tailenders in the 1st innings."

Lee had plenty of chances to deliver solid bowling performances for Australia over the last 18 months and only very rarely took them. It would be unwise to rush him straight back in after just one top-notch performance. I think the best thing would be for Lee to not be picked for the Ashes contests and presuming his form continues to hold up, be picked for the Caribbean tour.
Despite his omission, I get the sense that some believe that Bichel is merely warming Lee's spot until he got back into form.
Bichel deserves an extended run as the side's third paceman; Lee got that when he lost form and then some.

If Lee plays another good Pura Cup match, and Bichel only grabs 2 or 3 in the 2nd test, I like Lee's chances of playing at the WACA. There would be a good chance of seeing some broken bones.

Selectors could call horses for courses and say bichel was only picked because it was the gabba.
