Hiya

Just after some feedback...Im planning on writing a book next year on the Power's 2003 season, like a diary type book, covering all games.

Im just interested on hearing some feedback on what sort of things people would like to see in the book...its layout etc..anything at all is cool.

Also...the style of the book etc...i guess whatever people feel strongly about.
Any suggestions would be great.
Cheers
Chris

In your diary type set up, see if you can include a) who was injured, and b) who was close to being selected for that game (and why), as a lot of people cannot follow SANFL form.

A good example of this is unless one knows how well Brogan has done in the SANFL, letting go of French wouldn't make sense.
A lot of us only know about Brogan's 2002 form thanks to this site in general, and a few people in particular.

I'd be more interested in seeing more behind the scenes stuff, like travel etc rather than what goes on on the field as everyone can see what happens on field but very few get to see much of the behind the scenes "drama".

Something like the 'Inner Sanctum' picture book but with words......:D

The more you can get on things the average supporter doesn't see the better.........

Yep. A book showing things that most don't get to see would be much better than just a review of games etc. I guess you'll be going to most/all games so even some personal travel tips etc would be of interested to the average supporter perhaps.

Actually after thinking about this a bit I can see a few different ideas for a book........

A player diary like Steve Waugh - be interesting to see what a player actually goes through during a season.

Similar to above but swap the player with a number of different supporters..........say a cheersquad member, season ticket holder, group of mates that go to the game, a family, a longtime Port supporter, a new Port supporter....etc.......

it would be interesting to see how much football controls/affects their lives over a year..............

I'd be happy to volunteer for that! :D

I expect you're publishing this. And when you do, BigFooty Power supporters should get 20% discount. :D

Sounds fair to me.

Some great suggestions coming in..thanks.
Hopefully it will be picked up for publishing..if not..then the option is there to self publish, so it still gets out there to the public, even if publishing companies turn their noses up at the idea.

The book will be a diary of the season...game by game...event by event...depending on whats happening..full of photos...interviews...Obviously the Port aspect to the book is the priority, but it will also serve as a travel companion, type thing. Tips, where to stay in which city..experiences...Port functions...the supporters...everything...
Ill be going to every game, so ill keep a journal each week...go to every training...pick up on what the press and club is saying..give people an insight into what its like being an ordinary fan, going to the footy every week. because thats the bottom line..im a Port lover beforfe i am a journalist..(which i am)..so, that takes priority..

keep the suggestions coming

To me that would be the most interesting bit.

Also tips on travel, places for the out of town fan/s to go and what is worth doing (with regard to events etc) during the season would be interesting also.

DK's idea of having people with different roles/connections to the clubs sounds good also.

Hope it goes well, can't wait to have a look at it, which ever version it ends up as!

Well he said he was a journalist as well so surely there's got to be some deductions there..........don't we all try and manipulate the taxation system to our own advantages.........:D

Manipulation is not quite the right word.
As one famous Goanna once said: Why should anyone pay one cent more than one is legally obliged to do.
So he offered something like $10 for the year.
Or something very much like that.

Unfortunately plenty do pay more (or receive less back) than they are legally obliged to do............

but that's their problem.......:D
