Hey guys,
Just thought I'd get your views on youngster Michael Handby. He is doing pe-season training with the Dees, and I thought I'd check out if the guys is any good or not. Anything would be appreciated!
Thanx! :)

I was amazed when he was given the cut. He was only drafted 2 years ago, and his first season was virtually halved by a serious finger injury. In the one and a half years he has played he has always played in Gleneng's league side in the SANFL and has consistently been one of their better players.
His only drawback is that all of his junior footy was as a key position player, and he is not tall enough for that at AFL level. More likely to be a back pocket player, or a flanker at that level. I'm still amazed that he was never given a try before he was cut.

Thanks for that information. Sounds like he could be a "handby" player for us! (What a shocker of a joke! :D)

I hear he was a mighty talented youngster and I wouldn't mind a key position player that had the ability he supposedly had.

As Macca suggested Handby was cut because he stopped growing & is not tall enough for a key defensive position. If he was, it is doubtful he would have been cut. Glenelg were often playing him on a wing, but the Crows don't need another wingman, they need another key defender (such as Rutten, who was of course promoted).

PS If you want a tall defender, better of picking Evan Hewitt.

oh cowboy please. you're right its a shocker.
I reckon he was drafted as Angwin's buddy because both of them came from the Stingrays in the same year. Didn't help Angwin much.

lol footyman, I think we delisted him for association with Laurence "the looser/tosser" Angwin.
Nah seriously, a bit suprised but at the end of the day the make judgement calls on players, sometimes it is hard.
