THE LION ROARS TONIGHT
WELL YOU’VE HEARD ABOUT THE QUEENSLANDER
AND ALFIE’S STIRRING COMEBACK
WE SQUASHED THOSE ****Y ROACHES
LIKE A COMMON K-MART THUMBTACK!
YOU MAY HAVE SEEN THE WALLABY
GO HEAD TO HEAD WITH BRITAIN
YOU CALLIN’ THAT A LION?
SHE WAS JUST A DRESSED UP KITTEN!
AND IT’S BEEN A CRACKING SEASON
ONE OF ABSOLUTE INTRIGUE
BUT HAVE YOU SEEN THE BEAST THAT’S STALKING
THE AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE?
DID YOU KNOW THE GREATEST FAIRYTALE
WAS WAITING TO BE TOLD?
THE STORY’S LEADING CHARACTERS
ARE BLUE, MAROON AND GOLD
IT’S A TEAM THAT HAILS FROM BRISBANE
WHERE THE SUNSHINE COMES ON TAP
WHERE BEERS ARE SERVED IN POTS
AND THE GIRLS DESERVE A WRAP!
FROM THE CENTRE BOUNCE THAT START’S THE GAME
UNTIL THE FINAL SIREN
THERE’S A PRIDE THAT FILLS THAT JUMPER
THAT I REALLY FIND INSPIRIN’
EVERY KICK THAT FINDS A LEADER
EVERY PASS THAT FINDS A CHEST
EVERY MARK THAT MAKES THE CROWD STAND UP
DOES JUSTICE TO THE CREST
AT THE RUCK AND IN THE TACKLE
RUN THE SHEPHERD, MAKE THE SMOTHER
YET THE SECRET TO THEIR STRENGTH
IS THAT THEY’RE PLAYING FOR EACH OTHER
WHICH IS WHY THIS AWESOME ANIMAL
IS RIDING ON A ROLL
HUNGRY FOR A TITLE
WITH ITS HEART AND WITH ITS SOUL
AND WHEN THAT FLAG ARRIVES IN BRISSY
WE WILL SING WITH ALL OUR MIGHT
AT THE GABBA, THE MIGHTY GABBA
