Looked like an ankle to me. Fingers crossed it's only minor.

I watched him go down the race at halftime. He went in slightly after the main group and he looked pretty sour. Like someone had told him Christmas was cancelled.

Apparently Neagle's hamstring too.

Not many positives from this match. Myers was very unconvincing (was his first hit out for a while though), Gumbleton took 1 decent mark and roved well twice, Neagle had an excellent start then did nothing. Dempsey wasn't very good, nice tackle though.

Dyson did 1 good thing this match so that was a welcome change to his usual.

Lovett, Hille, Lonners, Watson, Lloydy, H Slats were all good.

Dyson keeps on setting up goals now. I am slowly warming up to him.

I think we can agree that this was one of dysons better games.. I'm a bit worried about mcphee though, he seemed that he didnt want to push the ball forward at all.. Other than that most of players were pretty average, lonergan and lovett on the other hand were stars..

Yeah Dyson was decent. He even put his body on the line and took a hit.:D

On topic, they're getting scans done but they don't think it's serious. Rolled ankle.

Myers was very unconvincing

What didn't you like and what did you expect?

A lot of his touches were in close and under pressure, there was one terrible hand ball to Fletcher which cost us a goal I think but other than that 15 (5 contested) possies and a goal was a fair effort considering he hasn't played a competitive game for a long time.

McVeigh was in a lot of pain when he came off and was swearing when walking to the race but in the third term I overheard the medo's saying that he was fine and it was just a rolled ankle. We'll hope for the best.
Myers was below average for the game but he'll play better next week.

Myers had an awesome last quarter...
Stop expecting him to play awesome straight away!
He reminds me SO much of Pendlebury

Turned it over or gave hospital handballs alot, even when in space. His goal was great and alot of it was probably nerves but I thought it was a step backwards from last year. I'm not expecting him to dominate, I would rather he get less of it and be more effective though.

McVeigh ankle injury not serious: Knights

http://afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/72661/default.aspx

ESSENDON is confident midfielder Mark McVeigh has escaped serious damage to the ankle he injured on Friday night at Telstra Dome in the Bombers' two-point win over the Brisbane Lions.

The 28-year-old was helped from the ground during the second quarter of the NAB Cup clash after rolling his ankle in the centre square.

While he'll undergo scans on Saturday to assess the injury closer, the Bombers believe the complaint is not serious.

"We were having a discussion at half time about whether he would come back onto the ground in the second half, so hopefully that's a sign it's not too severe," coach Matthew Knights said, after the game.

"It was a blow because he was playing well and we would have liked to have got the whole game into him, match conditioning perspective."

When was he in space? Literally got most of his posessions in tight situations

A step backwards from last year? That's a bit much don't you think? His first game in a long time, of course he's going to be rusty

myers was clearly stuffed in the 2nd half. there is so much non-productive running in this game now, with the rolling zone being used by almost every side. a player is never out of the play anymore, the only place to get a rest is on the bench, so match conditioning will be even more important and it will interesting to see which sides can maintain this style into the 2nd half of the year.

Not every one of his 15 possessions was contested... I said it was a step back because he looked nervous and unsure of himself compared to last year where he was very composed. I've conceded it was his first game for a while and that would have some effect but I still found his game disappointing, I may have been over the top though.

I think it was clear all along that it was an ankle injury.. He stepped on it when running off the ground a little bit which suggests it probably wasn't a fracture or break... I think he'll only be out for a week at least if he just rolled it.. Swelling would be the main problem.. But if the ligerments torn then he's gonna be a bit longer.

Scans to determine extent of Essendon's Mark McVeigh's injury By Jackie Epstein | March 01, 2009 12:00am

http://www.news.com.au/common/imagedata/0,,6508356,00.jpg

Essendon's Mark McVeigh will undergo scans on his injured left ankle after swelling remained a day after he limped off in Essednon's NAB Cup win over Brisbane.
McVeigh went off in the first quarter of the Bombers' two-point win over the Lions (http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,25116966-23211,00.html), but coach Matthew Knights was hopeful that the injury wasn't too serious.
Midfielder Jobe Watson said the full extent of damage was unclear.
"He was in a bit of pain and he's had a bit of a problem with that foot earlier in the pre-season," Watson said.
"The swelling takes about 48 hours to go down and he'll have a scan on Monday to determine what the outcome is.
"He was in rare form last year and ever since then he's had the hamstring and the knee and his foot has been playing up. He adds a lot out there and we'll be desperate to have him back."
Essendon survived by two points against Brisbane to book a NAB Cup semi-final against Collingwood on Friday night.
Watson said there were some concerns about the team's form.
"We probably relaxed a little bit and we don't seem to put the kill into teams," he said.
"It makes it hard when you're always giving teams a chance. It's something we're going to have to address. You can't afford to (do it) . . . teams can score so quickly these days.
"We're going to have to really look at it and try to work out mentally what we can do when we get a bit of a buffer."
Watson said the form of Andrew Lovett, who ran 70m to chase down Scott Harding in the first quarter, was a genuine bonus.
"(Lovett's discipline and trade issues) were much publicised," Watson said.
"To any player it's a kick in the backside and the most pleasing thing from Andrew's last two games would have been that chase down last night.
"(It was great) to see Andrew do something that he probably hasn't done for a couple of years. I'm sure the coaching staff would have been pleased, as he would have."
