Why are there so many awful covers being released right now?
The worst is that technofied Bryan Adams song I had to put up with in a movie theatre the other day.
Did somebody just decide that it wasn't worth writing bad pop music anymore for the latest flavor of the month bimbo posing as a singer?
Why go through the trouble when you can just butcher a song already written, particularly when 9 out of 10 teenyboppers wouldn't know the difference anyway.

When I lived in Hedland, all the wanna-be gangstas were loving the fresh new sound of "Ghetto Supastar", imagine their reaction when I told them it was originally an old Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton number.
Notable shyte ones at the moment include the cover of that Phil Collins song and that one that uses the Supertramp song done in a Chipmunk voice *shudder*
Very seldom does the cover compare in any way to the original. Notable exceptions include "Shiver" by the Screaming Jets, "Mrs Robinson" by the Lemonheads, "My Generation" by Oasis and Green Day (independently, not together though that would be interesting) "Cat's In The Cradle" by Ugly Kid Joe and "Love Rollercoaster" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers to name a few that I like.

Actually the Bryan Adams cover is probably the best of the bunch which goes to show how bad they all are.
The cover of "Boys of Summer" is good to listen to if you are having difficulty in bringing up last night's dinner.

I'm sure that you, with your self proclaimed knowledge of music, would know every song that is a cover Pride. Might test you one day.

Good call.
Don Henley must be spinning in his grave.. and if he isn't, let's put him there.
