Young forward Damon White will be out of action until the middle of the 2003 season after undergoing further surgery on his left ankle on Monday.

White’s dislocated and fractured ankle occurred while playing for North Adelaide on April 27. It was the result of a sickening-looking landing from a marking contest.

After many months of rehabilitation, it became evident that his ankle was still unstable, so it was decided White would have further surgery.

White will be in hospital for a couple of days and will be in plaster for six to eight weeks. He will then go through another period of rehabilitation and doctors presently estimate that he will be back playing by the middle of the 2003 season.

Damn.......not what we wanted to hear........

Wasn't one of the reasons he wasn't picked early in last years draft due to a previous ankle injury.......

Lets hope the medicos get it right and have him firing later in the season............

Damn, feel sorry for the lad, must be so annoying waiting and hoping for his career to start. Hopefully with the surgery though he will be fit and firing when he does get his shot and can help us in the finals.

One question though, why did it take so long to idnetify it? He has been out of the plaster for a while now you would have thought they could have told that it would nee further surgery earlier than now.

This continued injury would certainly make Schulz, Brennan and Smith a bit more appealling for Port.

Unbe****inlieveable.

The poor fella.

Whenever I saw him last season I wanted to give him a big hug, because he was nearly always looking down at his ankle rather dejectedly.

The only time he looked remotely happy was when he and Bazza Brooks were assisting kids in a handball competition at West Lakes Mall before the Rd 22 clash with the Lisbon Brians. Thunda Power was making him laugh. :D

I cant wait until the middle of 2003. I want to see him get a run in the AFL, dammit!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

i guess they were giving it a chance to get right but it never came good.

it was a terrible looking break, i remember seeing it on the news, his ankle went in some horrible places.
