For those of you that don't get the Courier Mail - this is part of what was on today's Sports Page

On-field success reflected in books.

In a major turnaround of financial fortunes for the Brisbane Lions, the AFL premiers anticipate reporting a $1.25 million profit for the 2001-02 year.

The figure is inflated by a $300,000 distribution from the AFL for the Lions' share of funds from the sale of Waverley Park.

But it's still a stunning U-turn on last year's $845,000 loss in the club's first premiership year.

The Lions are not due to formalise club accounts until the annual general meeting on February 24 but the fact chairman Graeme Downie made the announcement suggests the profit figure released will be close to the mark

that is an amazing result! Especially as we were expecting to lose about $500k!! Anyone know what the big turnaround was? We had a similar number of members, and i would have thought a wage bill. Maybe all that memorabillia i bought!

OH a Social Club overlooking the magnificent Gabba Grounds that is something a lot of Clubs would give their right hand for?

Don't be silly...............We'll probably end up with a room attached to the Greenbank RSL the way we are going!

Great news for the club and also for the QAFL. Obviously the gospel is spreading up there.
