Well who do you all want? Stu Macgill for me in the test and one-day teams. Or is there someone else i neglected to mention.

Moderators - please edit poll so it shows a fourth option as 'other'. Cheers!

MacGill for me. We need someone who's going to start some fights with those Poms. We haven't had any decent biffo in cricket since, well, the last time MacGill played.

Yeah i was gonna do that, but i instead put it in the general forum where potentially more people would see it than just mainly cricket people. Plus i get a more general view too.

HOGGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I reckon Hoggy is a huge chance for the rest of the One-Dayers as him and Hauritz were the ones in the A team and Hogg performed so much better than Hauritz.

Just another point, Sydney Test, why wouldn't there be 2 spinners used?

I thought Brad Hogg bowled very well against England in the tour match recently.

But at the same time, MacGill is a proven performer and international level.

So it would be difficult to choose between those two.

Even Cameron White would come into the picture surely?

Give Cam White a go. He is in the 30 man squad for the World Cup, played well against the Poms for the PM's XI, is young, and is the next big thing.

I swear it's not Victorian and Dandenong bias. ;)

No, but it's No-Victorians bias from the ACB selectors.

Dear oh dear. If we're considering Hogg and White as our number one spin bowler, Australian cricket is in a bit of trouble. Both these players would struggle to make their respective state sides if not for their batting.

For mine, MacGill must be a shoe-in for the Test side. I'd probably favour him over Hauritz for the one-dayers too, but clearly the selectors prefer "Haurey" for the one-dayers and possibly the Test side too, since he did go on the last test tour.

Serious answer: MacGill must play the last two Tests, and I think he should at least play the rest of the VB series as well.

They probably would've played two spinners (Warne and MacGill) until Warne's injury - there simply isn't the quality in the spinners on offer to justify playing two now unless the selectors are in an adventourous mood.

MacGill would be the obvious choice even if his bowling hasn't been the best so far this season. He would have an easier time of it anyway against the English batsmen.

From what I've seen of Hauritz this season (first-class match in Hobart and Aust A game in Brisbane) he just doesn't look up to the task. He has cunning changes of pace and some decent flight but he barely spins it - and wouldn't be a threat at international level.... even against the English.

Cameron White would be an interesting choice though - if they were going to pick two spinners for Sydney he would probably be one of them.

Hogg and Hauritz are in great form at the minute, so either would be a good chance for the World Cup. If they are under consideration, I'd want them to be playing in the Australian side, so the selectors can see if they are capable at playing consistantly at the highest level.

White can't even get a game for Victoria, I need to see more of him to be convinced.

What are you talking about? The guy was picked for the PM's X1 and in the 30 man World Cup squad. From memory he hasn't missed a Victorian match since the Tasmanian four day game which was our first, except when he was on duty.

Mark my words, he is the heir to Warne. Blood him now.

He was 13th man for Victoria in the last one-dayer, and has much to prove if he is even going to go close to being anything like Warne. And you all seem to be overlooking the fact that this guy is a *batting* all-rounder!

Pick another batsman at 8, win the toss and bat and see if they can compile 1,000.

That's about the only interest left in this series.

No way Cameron White can be chosen in the Australian side as the spinner he has done nothing to date.
First Class bowling average 38
Limited overs bowling average 101 with an economy rate of over 6.

With Warney missing a chip from his shoulder and Magill having a chip on his shoulder it has to be Hauritz.

Cant stand Magill hes a paunce

I'm sure White missed Victoria's last domestic One Dayer, but was available for selection.

The PM's XI is basically a charity game, I don't think selection in that means your going to be in the Australian team. Heck, Mark Waugh was captain in that game!

I need to see more of White to impress me.
