Is the Victorian bowling attack just as strong at the rest of Australia bowling attack?
Siddle
Harwood
Nannes
McKay
McDonald
McGain
vs
Johnson
Lee
Clark
Hilfenhaus
North
Krejza
I don't think there's much between them.

Nannes' impact is severely underrated. He'd mix it at the top level.

100% Agree.
Harwood would also shake a few up with the new ball.
There's very little between the two lineups.

NSW's best bowling lineup is better than Victorias.

Rubbish. The Vic attack is easily the strongest in the domestic scene.

Teffy you are on extremely thin ice buddy. Do not waste my time with stupid threads or even stupider reports.
Anymore silliness out of you and you are going to get your arse kicked.

What is stupid about my thread?
The Victorian list has half the Australian attack in it!!!!
What rules have I broken? I can only deduce from your comments that filling up threads with childish pics is tolerated and asking for them to be cleaned up is a bannable offence.
Do not try the innocent act and do not waste my time. Absolute final warning.
What is stupid about my thread?
Either you know or you are an idiot.

Instead of picking 6 bowlers for each side, try doing it with a line up that will actually play.
ROA
Johnson
Clark
Hilfenhaus/Bracken/Magoffin/Dorey/Noffke (who could maybe bat 6 according to his cheerleaders)
Spinner - flip a coin, Hauritz, Casson, Krejza whoever
Vic
Siddle
Nannes
Harwood
McGain
McDonald
Not as far away as you might think. Victoria have enviable depth in bowling at the moment but the very top is not the same standard as ROA.

Lee Clark Bollinger Bracken>>>victorias attack
Clark maybe
bollinger is rubbish and Lee is adequate.
but Victoria isn't better than the rest of Australia no.
not by a long shot.

Maybe the thread is a little exaggerated, but there's hardly anything wrong with it, surely? It's an opinion, and it's been backed up. Just because popular opinion disagrees with a thread's sentiment doesn't make it a bad one, does it? Sorry if this is in the wrong place, you guys do a top job.:thumbsu:
BTW, agree with dan warna, I just cannot see why some rate Bollinger so highly.

Mate I understand how it could look that way from the outside.
Posters are treated on the basis of their previous behaviour and as such the one in question is on extremely thin ice...Noticed that I mentioned reports.
Nothing at all for our many good posters to worry about. These are not the droids you are looking for. Move along. ;)

I am also in that camp.
Victoria's bowling line-up is the best in the domestic comp and it is also the deepest.
Siddle and Mcgain have both recently been selected in the Australian team. Mcgain is so desired by the selectors that they rushed him back after a big injury and with not much game practise.
Harwood and Patterson have both played international cricket and harwood is going to S.A for the t20's.
Mckay and Holland played in the P.M's XI this year and both got wickets.
Wright and Nannes are both older but understand their game very well this year. Nannes was probably the best bowler this year as he had the most wickets but then got injured.
As for youth we have Hastings and other Patterson (I cant remember his name) both played for the Vics this year and both look like they have alot of talent.
Mcdonald and White can bowl about 15 overs as innins if required, although we would need to be very desperate to bowl White 15 overs.
As good as it is to say it is comparable to the Aus bowling line up is a bit much even though 3/6 bowlers currently in S.A are vics.

No worries, fair call.
And on Bollinger, would he have got a run for the Aussies vs RSA had the match been anywhere bar Sydney back in the New Year?

Victoria's bowling lineup is at a test class standard, I've no doubt about that.
LIONS then DAYLIGHT
15 Mar 2009, 23:47
If Victoria's bowling lineup is so good why don't they declare and have a crack at bowling the mighty queenslanders out twice?
Afraid of a Queensland fightback? A Symo counter attack?
It's such a shame that time and time again the Shied final turns into a bore, the last great one was the one when MacGill hit the winning runs.
Would like the Shield Final to have the same rules with regards to time as the World eleven test played in Oct 2005. 6 days in duration.

Why would you risk losing the Shield when you can just bat and bat and bat against a mediocre bowling lineup to secure it for another year?

Exactly.
They have absolutely nothing to gain by going for the win. They know all they have to do is draw the match to win the Shield and I know what I would rather win out of the Shield or a single match.
But on the topic, the Vic attack is very very strong, and when you comprise half the bowling for the national side and another waiting in the wings as next in line, you have 3 bowlers who could possibly be playing for Australia in the same test.
Vic: Siddle, Nannes, McKay/Harwood, McGain, McDonald
Aus: Johnson, Clark, Hilfenhaus, Krejza/Hauritz, North/Katich
It's not as ridiculously clear cut as everyone is making it out to be.

If Qld were any good they could bowl Vic out twice in 5 days.
I know the weather hasn't helped them.

You could not be more wrong if you tried, Dirk is so far ahead it isn't funny, would have played a fair bit of Test Cricket if he had cricket as his number 1 priority sooner

Another year?? Didn't realise the vics were the reigning champs. I thought the Blues walloped them in the final last year.........my bad.
