An Australian multimedia designer is starting a movement (http://www.wiiwantcricket.com/) to get a Cricket game made for Wii. So far, he has contacted EA, created a website, and put together a promo video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ4OZ8xget0). It looks like a good number of Aussies are behind him, too. EA already makes a Cricket Game (http://uk.electronicarts.se/games/9156/), so I can’t see it being terribly impossible for them to port this to Wii. Are any of our international Infendonians out there interested in a Wii Cricket game?

I know its an old article but cricket on the wii would be awesome. Sounds superb, Any more news on this?
Unfortuantely nothing, but cricket would be good on the wii IF it could be done properly. Its well known there hasn't been a good cricket game released for any console since Shane Warne Cricket 99.

Cricket would work brilliantly on the ol' Wii. Unfortunately, unless they pump the money into it and do it properly, it will probably be a really scratchy, half-assed release. And lets face it, the global market for cricket games isn't going to encourage a big investment from Nintendo or a good 3rd party developer.
Still... Would be awesome.
just have to make do with Beach Cricket for the time being

Since Shane Warne 99? Are you serious? The best cricket console game ever was Super International Cricket on Super Nintendo. That's the sort game play that is required. Nothing beats it's allround capacity of fielding, bowling and batting.

Well SW99 was the last good cricket game, but Super International Cricket, man I remember playing that when I was only 5-6 and it was the best.:thumbsu:

And the ability to choose when to appeal!
Dont forget that!
Just go down to the nets with some friends. This is the problem with Wii.
Billiards, Baseball, Cricket, Tennis, Golf, Bowling, etc etc, all these things replacing real life for virtual reality. Just rings hollow imo. And often you dont want to play console games after a days work having to actually wave your arms around etc.
Why i prefer the HD experience with thumb stick button mashing, and when i want a fitness hit I'll actually go and play the sport....golf course, cricket nets, tennis court, squash court, etc.
BTW----horses for courses, i know. Just saying.

Judging by hardware sales figures, I don't think the market sees it as much of a problem at all.
Market shmarket. Nets > wii-cricket.
I know what you're saying tho. Just a personal preference thing.

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive to be honest.
Playing cricket/tennis/bowling etc for real will always be more fun, but when you are drunk with mates at 2am, the Wii is pretty good value.

Good points. I agree. And that's why there's a market for it. Also, for kids being able to all play under the noses of their parents and dont have to drive them around, or worry about some perv pedophile, etc. Or parents being able to "go to the gym" without having to. Etc.
It's just my personal angst with virtual reality and cyber-lifestyle. The over-abundance of it in modern society. I look at the cultures in West Africa, Asia, Middle East, Europe, where people live outside their houses, open lunches/parties with their neighbors, neighbors actually friends etc, people not locked indoors 24/7 on the PC, console, TV, with security gates and cameras protecting their worldly possessions, kids all playing soccer/cricket in the streets etc. Kinda like when i was growing up, and probably a lot of others too. While now it's very secluded society, protective, etc. Never see my neighbors, dont even know any of them, or what they look like, etc etc.
Not blaming Wii for that. It's just the whole modern culture. People wont go out cos they get glassed, people meet partners on online dating services rather than socially interact, can chat on MSN to them rather than hang out. Spontaneity of life and excitement of life kinda slipping.
One good thing tho is the global community. That's a real plus. Being able to communicate right around the world or interstate, all the info at a click of the button.

They should just port SW99 to the Wii. It's the greatest sports game ever made.
