I recently turned 18 and decided to hit the town with some mates, we went out to a club and after a while got pretty tired and wanted to go to a sports bar and watch the soccer. So we left and went to go to the Elephant Wheelbarrow but i called my brother and he said it was closed so then we headed down Burwood road past the Hawthorn which was closed and ended up at the Tower. We went in tried got a seat and sat awkwardly trying to watch the soccer with no sound and yeah got pretty bored and left...so my main point is does anyone know of any quality sports bars in the Melbourne CBD like the ones you see on American TV where everyone is watching the superbowl eating wings???
oh and btw i saw Cameron and Trav Cloke at the club.

just king hit him from behind with your mates like those blokes on the sunshine coast on new years did :p
personally I don't mind Trav but is there a man in the AFL with a more punchable face than Cam Cloke? Riemers maybe...
See I thought the Clokes had this aura in which people just gravitate towards them to kick them in the face and stuff since that's the only explanation I could come up with besides the completely unviable people choose to interact with them. Because who would choose such horror?:p

Steakout at Crown is probably your best bet for one of those American type sports bars. It's the place just opposite the village box office. They have heaps of TV screens so it's one of those places where they have a lot of live sport going on.
If you want to watch the football (soccer ;)) you're probably better off going to an actual football pub. As they are football pubs they are likely to be open at the hours that the games are on (ie into the early hours of sunday morning). You've got the Charles Dickens Tavern which is in Collins St (near the corner of Elizabeth St), The Celtic Club (in Queen St) and the Keepers Arms in North Melbourne.

the food is good too. just get there early to ensure that it's not too busy.
I go EVERY time I go to melbourne. prices are good too for booze and food

Good call on the Tavern except it got a little to packed and i didn't get around to going to Steakout. I did however meet Schneider and Eddy at Crown having a round at blackjack...really good blokes, both where more than happy to say hello and give us a handshake.
