Today mernda had an easy 8 goal win against Wallan @ Wallan.
The wind was blowing straight down the ground and it was better weather for drinking than playing footy.
My better players were Aqua, Lezzy, Ty, Krysy ( with the angry pills), The Egg, The Eagle was moving very well and the new Buttsy not that anyone one had a bad game.
The really good news is that there is 5 players who will walk straight into that side plus a few pushing to make the ones. NOBODY wil get a free ride this year.
The Coach seems to know what he is doing and comes across ok.
Next Week we play Oak Park @ Mernda so lets keep the ball rolling :thumbsu:

West Preston Under 16s & 17s played Preston Bullants last night @ West Preston. It was a 6 quater game, 3 quaters to the 17s and the last 3 to the 16s.

Many positive things came out of this game, there's just some things the under 16s need to work on and last night was a perfect time to see what those things are and try to improve and work on them until the season starts. Some of us were stiff last night, but I hope that's got to improve.

As for the practise next week, I don't know who we play.

the wind was shocking.. i think if it was better conditions would've been an easy 100point win for mernda.. apart from that number 21 from wallan man handling sheltz

i heard they had very good numbers since well before christmas.. they been trying to get a few boyz from mernda to go down there as well, but from what i last heard they definetly had enough playerz.. the rumour about rob hyde wouldnt surprise me either as he isn't doing much else right now however he was coaching the vic metro side after leaving calder cannons but can find this out quite easily

Under 16s of West Preston played Whittlesea at home today, we started off with a bang and it continued throughout the game to come out the winners at the end.

We beat them by 10 or so goals.

saw Morang play down brighton way, look good big and strong, look like a total new side, not a lot of the old faces left. saw an old mate the tres play in the twos and hold his own quite well ??
I think they play wallan next week.
Heard they went really well up at Euroa last weekend an had a bit of fun afterwoods.

saw morang play aswell... a few positives in the first game with a few of the young players stepping up and also a few of the older faces playing their part aswell.... 2nd game was a bit disapointing just lacked a big target up forward and skills looked a bit poor throughout the day

StMary's played Monty on saturday morning at Pitcher park. It was a good close contest throughout and a very physical game. We werent sure how our boys would hold up being their first U19 game, but to their credit they took on the Monty and got up by a point in the last minutes.... a great team effort by the undersized Burra and shows that we will be competitive for the season proper. BTW look out for Moppa, Hoppa, Indy and co, they should some great spirit. Rob Hyde is at St Mary's in a development role with the Colts (u17) and has no input with the U19 boys.

big win and confidence booster for the boyz at mernda under 19z.. hard match against oak park.. after dominating most of the game on the scoreboard but not really looking lyk the more skillful side we won by about 3-4 goalz in the end.. all behind the glove who booted 7goalz..

Merndas U19's looked a very good side, Reserves and 1's should do OK, the Oak Park side was a well skilled unit. The boys need to get another win to go into the season with a bit of confidence.

Would of had to have been montys 2nd side or not even nearly close to full strength. Monty made the grand final last yr in 17s div 1 last yr even tho they were pretty average but i would think there full strength side would smash st.marys. Dont get carried away St.Marys, you will struggle this yr especially aganist sides who have a lot older players, seeing now the age has been dropped back again.

No ones getting carried away at St Marys, we know it will be a tough year, but the signs on Saturday will suggest that we will hold our own against a number of teams.

It will be a big year by the boys down at Burra! The game they played on saturday was exeptional. Already have some early talent numbers 13 , 21 and 7. Played well all game, hard contested footy. Burra will sure match up against other teams this year and most likely deliver the goods.

Boys down at the burra played well this week! look very confident in the way they play. Very commited and disiplined. Great team effort Saturday beating Keon Park by over 30 points. Great runners through the middle and smart attacking forwards. Defence starring all day! St. Mary's Senior football club we certainly be no push over!

The Burra put on another solid perfomance against the boys from Keon Park, who showed they could be a little undiciplined at times, but also showed that they could play when they put their minds to it. For the season proper we at the Burra will just be taking it one week at a time, not getting ahead of ourselves, and most importantly making sure we Come to play!!!!. GO Burras

Went down on Saturday to watch St.Marys play Keon Park... for the 1st 3 quaters the burra dominated the undisiplined boys from Keon Park.. They had good run through their midfield...good rebounding skills from the back half & also had some very smart forwards... Their onballers were good all round the ground...got back to help in defence, they run hard through the ground & run in 2s,3s & some times 4s to a single player from keon park..& even a few onballers kicked some smart goals..... They are going to be a big threat in 19s div 2.... gotta give them credit.....a young man caught my eye.. number 1... i believe his name was Brenton could be a played to watch all year....

But it wasn't all bad from Keon Park in the 4th Quater they showed they could play some very smart footy...1 player that really caught my eye was the young man playing off the wing... number 3 he wore Bright Red boots ran hard... had some very good deliever to forwards & kicked a smart goal himself.....

But still can't take anything away from the burra... going to be a good side

Vermont would have slaughtered bundoora, far better quality of football in EFL Division 1 than NFL division 1.

cant say that because its a new year and new squads. vermont were more advanced than bundoora that beeing there 3rd practice match and bundooras first. you can never tell unless tehy played each other in the proper season. they would favourites and would most likely win. but bundoora would give a very good account of themselves

Don't forget the Vermont boys are U18s whereas the Bunnies have up to U19.5's.
