Shepparton have lost three top players with ex Fitzroy and North player Anthony Mellington off to Montmorency, Matt Byers to Wangaratta, and former captain Terry Touhey retiring.

That wasn't entirely unexpected, Anthony Mellington's been working in Melbourne for a while now, and since that he was training with Mont, then going up to Shepparton for the weekend, he's obviously got sick of the travel and deciced to play locally.
Montmorency were real suprise packets this year, and came within a whisker of winning the Division One DVFL flag, and with him at Centre Half Forward, I think the Magpies should do well in 2003.
With Monty already having a good side and the standard in the DVFL starting to slip (due partially to clubs spending less money) He'll have a good season.

He will go alright and may be the player that could help them win the flag
