I will try to get to a couple of games in 2003 if possible. I wouldn't mind watching the Reds take on West Brunswick.
Just a question. Someone has told me that you are not allowed to bring any alcohol to any VAFA ground. Is this true?

Its true, though the rule is a bit shaky when dealing with an open park like Edinburgh Gardens ... you can always claim you're just a bloke passing through, and nothing do with the footy ... in which case don't wear a Reds beanie or any such propoganda! :D

So in other words, the rule can't be enforced?

Well you've got to be careful because in reality it CAN be enforced, by fining the club. But some blokes who like a beer stand right down at the end on Brunswick St, where you can't tell that they're actually there to watch the match! So its possible to have a beer, but don't flaunt the rule blatantly!

No problem. I was just interested to know if the rule was true, if it could be enforced, and what sort of penalty could occur. I never had any intention of drinking any alcohol at a Reds game. I have never drunk alcohol at the footy in my life, and it is likely that I never will.

No, I've never drunk alcohol at the footy, either.

And I wouldn't know who any of the blokes are by chance Mobbenfuhrer.:D :D
Don't mind the look of the draw this season. A couple of the away trips look a bit to far though.
Peninsula, Old Geelong, Old Carey and La Trobe don't look that good for travelling too.
Hoepfully we can have a better season than last and go up to D1.

Hey Slax, the trip to Old Geeloing is misleading as they play their home games at Como Park in South Yarra!
Old Carey play near the old Fitzroy pre-season haunt at Bulleen Park.
If you want to discuss long trips, St Johns Old Boys in D3 will play away games this year against Werribee Amateurs and Rupertswood (based in Sunbury). They might as well play Freo!!
You think that's bad I know one comp where Werribee play Yarra Glen. That's a bloody day trip by itself.
I will probably go to the Old Geelong match then but I doubt I'll go to Carey or Penisula

I remember putting in a pre-season at Cobar FC (the front of Burke) while I was doing some vacation work at a mine. When they played Griffith (or a town near Griffith) it was a 6 hour bus trip one way - thats pretty keen...

Benjy, why is it that when I think of you wielding sledgehammer in a mine at up at Cobar, the movie Zoolander comes to mind? :p
