So Scotty has had some surgery in Sydney on his OP? Hope all went well and he can finally dispose of this nusense injury. We need him back to his early season form from 2002 when he was just dominating.

Keep that groin rested Welshy :D

I really missed him last season. I hope things have gone well.
There should be plenty of goals kicked this year by the likes of Scott, Carey, Birdman, Ronnie and oh...dont forget Turbo.

No time to celebrate; Im starting to salivate:D

Me too. Scotty adds another dimension up there when he is playing. For the first time in the last few years we look like having a potent forward line to take advantage of a quality midfield. :)

As for k's comments "Keep that groin rested Welshy ", I thought at first that I was reading the stiffy missing in action thread!!!

xx Too true k. Welshy was arguably the best medium-size forward in the AFL in 2002 until he was injured. He was a huge loss when struck down by OP. I can't wait to have him floating around the forward line with Birdman & Ronnie - feeding of the Duck & Stevo. Bring on 2003! :D

Gee it must be pretty serious for Welshy to have aa operation mid-way through the pre-season. I am not very happy with AFC for the fact that a few players had operations a bit too late. Roo missed some pre-season work, Stenglein now Welsh!!!! What the hell are they thinking????

The reason the club waited that long before deciding to get Welsh to have the surgery was because they wanted to see if they could fix the problem without intervening. That was the gist of things as I read it off one of the AFC website articles. They said Scott wasn't responding as well as they would have liked to therapy/meds/etc so they had to go for the op in the end.

I thought that they made a good call waiting on Welsh, b/c if all the therapy/meds/etc worked then that would ideal as the the op wouldn't be necessary. However, they could still wait till the 'last minute' to have the op and/but still have enough time for him to recover for the season.

I wouldn't fret over it Stiffy! They just wanted to see if rest would do the trick, but obviously he needed a little snip here and there to get it right. Remember Vossy had his done mid way the season last year? I think he may have only missed 2 or 3 games and then he came back with a vengence!

As for Roo, he hurt his ankle while training by himself before the preseaon started. From what I gather it wasn't serious and he is back training with the other guys. Stinga has had trouble with stress fractures before so it is something he will have to work on.

It is all under control Stiffy!
