I don't see what's wrong with Kazaa. It's great for me! :) I have WinMX too, but I don't use it. I don't remember downloading it either. :D

Sounds like you need some codecs.

Files that enable you to play movie or sound files that have been encoded with a certain codec.
Here's some others.

I've just downloaded Blubster from www.blubster.com
Seems to work well.
Kazaar wouldn't run for me, kept crashing my system.

Kazaa has viruses in it
I'd un-install it straight away and run the anti-virus scanner through (if you have one!).

Since Napster and then Morpheus went belly up, I've been using Imesh quite successfully ... I'm very happy with it - usually about a million sharers on at a time.

Sometimes sites wanr the user that a codec is required, and provide a link to download it. I always do, and when trying to play it back, it STILL has no picture.
How do you "activate" it so it plays the por... *cough* errr, music clip back? :D
WinMX apparently still works with new versions, but for some reason when I try to download them the software download always fails. Can't download Kazaa or any otehrs either.

**** Kazaa. THat program is useless. Kazaa Lite on the other hand...now theres a good program. The exact same program but no popups, no ads, its a hell of a lot quicker, and with a hell of a lot more files too.
Soulseek (the link in Lockyer24s post) is an excellent program as well.

kazaa lite is the way to go ~
3.6 million users on there right now...
oh and... www.kazaalite.com
just like using the old napster/morpheus type interface

Yep...spyware free and pretty quick, Kazaa Lite's my choice.
If you can though, try to get below version 2.0 because since then there have been ratings systems introduced to value your level of sharing; basing your position in queue for a file on your level of participation with the program.

Is this with Windows Media player?
And, some codecs require a restart.

hmmm i have kazaa lite 1.7.1 and i get pop up ads. what's with that? However there could be worse ads...the normal one i get is famous female clevage shots (no face showing) and you have to roll over to find out who they are. And yes, i do now know them all off by heart.
thanks also for the tip about not getting version 2 which they keep trying to ram down my throat.

The only problem with that advice is that you still get rated with anything less than 2.0, however your rating will always be low.

I recommend everybody to un-install Kazaa, it has viruses in it and it'll stuff up your hardrive like it did to my computer  :o
