The Big Footy Lynchy Fan Club:
My happiest recollection is when Sticks came to the Brissy Bears - he still had the long hair - was it a mullet? We had a good win in one of his earliest games for the Bears, and I spoke to him after the game, and thanked him for coming to Brisbane - didn't realise he would still be here ten years on - what a fantastic acquisition for Brisbane.
In the years since, I've spoken to him often and like all of our players, Sticks is always happy to chat and pose for photos - we have a great team!!!

It certainly was a mullet - it's captured in its full glory in a portrait on the cover of the Bears' 1994 Yearbook. He was great in his first year for us if you overlook the injuries he had - then he got CFS of course, so it was quite a few years before he was able to provide supporters with the on-field value he promised. You certainly wouldn't have swapped him now for anyone.
I still wonder how his career might've panned out had he not contracted his illness - he might've been better known as a centre-half forward.

agree 100% LF - he defies logic imho! SOS said that lynchy is the most phyically oposing player he's played against which is a huge rapt :D
i remeber when he carried our ruck division when we played st k in 1997 - we lost all our ruckman and he had to ruck 90% of the time!

I just had to refresh my memory, so I dug out all the old yearbooks, etc ... and you're right - and he looked so young - but, of course, he was.
Had some fun re-reading some of the articles from the later years of the Bears through to the present (we only became full members in 1994, the year after the Bears came to Brissie). We spent the whole of 1993 buying tickets separately for each home game so becoming a member was inevitable, and a great saving of time & money. What a great investment it has been for us!!!
