F*** yeah. I couldnt believe it when I first heard it out. I remember posting their was a vote here a couple of weeks ago and he polled second most votes but to be captain of a soon to be AFL club is just a HUGE credit to the kid.
He always works so hard, does everything he can possibly do to make him the best player he can be and now he is captain of the Gold Coast Football Club. Congradulations to my buddy Marc Lock:)

From what I've seen of this kid in the 2 practice games he's going to be a gun.
Come the end of the season we may well see the thread stating "Marc Lock named as first Gold Coast B&F"

Not that I have heard of yet but surely being captain he would be very close to getting one if not yet:thumbsu:
I say sign him up before clubs try to encourage him to enter the draft.

Excuse my ignorance but in regards to Dixon, Haberfield, Stanlake, Stanley, Smith, Day, Thompson and Price, how long did they sign contracts for? Just the 2 years (09/10) leading up to GC's first year?

I think they are signed for approx 3 years, so they make it into the fisrt AFL season.

Marc Lock was captain of the GC SUNS 2010 VFL side.Although the understated Lock had shown plenty as a junior level footballer – he received the Coaches Award as a defender after Gold Coast Stingrays undefeated run at the 2008 Under 18 State Championships - there was plenty of talent stealing the limelight during his first pre-season at the Gold Coast Football Club (as it was then known).

But Lock’s approachability, actions-not-words work ethic, and absolute commitment on the playing field each week clearly stood out because he the playing group’s clear first choice as the club’s inaugural captain.

He proved an inspired choice - at season end he also took home the club’s first best and fairest award.Lock was raised in Adelaide but moved to northern NSW as a teenager. He cut his footballing teeth at Coolangatta Tweed Heads AFC. Now played almost exclusively as a negating midfielder capable of pushing forward and pinching the odd goal, Lock’s on-field hallmarks are his clever ball use, level-headedness, running capacity and all round consistency.

Yes - I noticed that - very nice call :thumbsu:

From what you've seen SR, do you think Marc will play many games this year, given all the other new recruits?

He seems to be a solid reliable player with a cool head in a crisis from the little I've seen of him.

No idea mate.
Now that he's been named in the leadership group you'd think he'd be a chance of playing a fair few games.

I'd lean towards yes. I think the club values him very highly and they'll want him to develop as fast as possible.
But there are a lot of good youngsters who the club will want to get games into so I'm guessing they'll be rotating players in and out a lot as they have in the past.

Interesting. The poaching has begun. :O

Was it an 'inside the club' source?

So Marc ended up at Box Hill after leaving us at the end of 2011 season.

Here's the thread I started on him over on the Hawk's board. (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=937950)
