View Full Version : Magilla does it again
His 4th 5 wicket haul in test match cricket.
Went for a few but thats the way he bowls....always attacks....
Great to see him get a 5 for....

Onya Stuie. He's no Shane Warne, but not a bad bloody leggie all the same.
Steve Waugh gave him a lot of overs though didn't he!!! :)
Yeah neither McGrath or Gillespie looked 100% fit...
I think the reason for MacGill bowling a huge number of overs was not to wear the fast bowlers down as Waugh was always intent on enforcing the follow on.

His bowling was less than impressive, short and full just that his turn decieved the English Batsmen, I think Warnie would of been looking back from the sidelines ruing his opportunity for a bag of wickets on a turning pitch, Warnie hasn't had a chance to bowl that many overs for a long while due to his, Mcgrath and Gillespies dominance over the last 18 months.

I would NOT have him in the World Cup 11 for an important match. Sure he can take some wickets, but bloody hell, he makes Brett Lee's figures look cheap.

I think you're fooled by the runs conceded figure. I'm not sure if by 'cheap' you mean runs per wicket or runs per over. But either way MacGill comes out on top.
Match figures:
MacGill 7/260 off 84 overs, avg 37.1, rpo 3.1.
Lee 3/157 off 44 overs, avg 52.33, rpo 3.57.
For all the full tosses and other loose deliveries he bowled this match, MacGill's economy rate was still much better than Lee's.

Maybe Andy Bichel should become a spinner & then Steve Waugh will give him a go when he's playing.Either that or move to NSW.

Or become the central figure in a 'Weet-Bix' advertising campaign.
Or, most likely of all, hope that Waugh doesn't make any runs in Sydney and the selectors decide it's time to move on.
