To help with the Hottest 100 voting, and to get a Big Footy song of the year, vote for your top ten songs here.

To start, mine are as follows.

1 The Sleepy Jackson - This Day
2 Bad Religion - Sorrow
3 Front End Loader - They're Trying To Kill Me
4 Machine Gun Fellatio - Rollercoaster
5 Rocket Science - Being Followed
6 Electric Soft Parade - Silent To The Dark
7 Idlewild - You Held The World In Your Arms
8 Augie March - This Train Is Taking No Passengers
9 Pearl Jam - I Am Mine
10 Spoon - The Way We Get By

This really has to be the best year for music in memory.

Unfortuantely, as usual, the crap gets the recognition.

You're recognising the crap right there. Worste song not only of the year, but of all time. Absolute rubbish of a song. Once they released that song MGF should have been sentenced to life inprisonment

Best songs for 2002...

1 The Sleepy Jackson - This Day

This track is a corker....a real creeper....one of the tracks of the year...

6 Electric Soft Parade - Silent To The Dark

Was weird that Nova picked up this song out of nowhere and then haven't palyed anything else by them. I think 'There's A Silence' is a better track but its a pretty damn good album.

7 Idlewild - You Held The World In Your Arms

Great great song. First heard this on London radio and was really surprised that it didn't get airplay here. This should have been the song to make this band huge. They are touring here in Feb....make sure you check them out.

10 Spoon - The Way We Get By

Hadn't heard anything from this band previously and love this track. Their album 'KIll the Moonlight' is a great cd as well.

All in all pretty good taste there...don't know about MFG and Pearl Jam tho...

I'm glad you are optimistic for the coming year. 2002 was one of the crappiest years for music that I can remember.

JJJ, although still better than commercial radio has gone right off the boil. Commercial songs seem to be consisting of crap 80's covers, worse than average sampling and freaking chipmunks.

Lucifer help us all.

All in all I really made a meal out of this one

it was meant to be top 10 of 2002
not top 15 of 2003

don't know what I was doing

I think you underestimate this song, I probably had it up too high, but it is a good song that managed to break into the more "mainstream" radio

Unfortunately i should have kept it to top 15

I left off

Tori Amos - A Sort Of Fairytale
Dallas Crane - **** Creek
Ben Folds - Losing Lisa
Bright Eyes - Lover I Don't Have To Love
New Pornographers - Mass Romantic

I was quite surprised that JJJ didn't pick up that last one, very good song and a lot better that all this rap rubbish they keep playing
