Neither Vaughans or Langers LBW decisions were even close yet he gives them out. An international umpire should be able to do better than that....
At least both poor decisions cancel each other out, but really the ICC should be retesting him to see if he is up to scratch as an umpire...
Yeah they would cancel each other out if Langer made 180 odd!!!!

An incompetent umpire can do better !!!!! This guy has a long way to go to reach THAT level. He is a worse umpire than Steve Randell was and that is saying something

I thought Steve Randall was a pretty good umpire, seedy customer with all of the molesting kiddies stuff and deserves to be in gaol, but still a good umpire nonetheless.

Obviously didnt see the same matches I saw. WI series 92-93 and SA/WA shield final 96 to name a few
Picking out a couple of bad tests in a 15 year career is a bit harsh...
Why did they get rid of the two GOOD umpires Bucknor and that South African guy?
i am seriously considering taking up an umpiring course and setting my sights on the international scene. i normally give professionals the benefit of the doubt, they obviously train hard and do a tough job, but in all honesty i believe if i was picked at random from the crowd i'd do a better job than the rabble out in the middle today.
a year studying the laws inside out, being able to see if a ball pitches outside leg stump, how hard can it be?? if i am continually getting decisions right at live speed in the living room, and having them confirmed by the slow motion replay, i'd have to say it aint that hard a job. its criminal what i saw today and the match fixing squad should be extended to investigate umpires. disgraceful.

Bucknor is umpiring the Sth Africa v Pakistan series with the Sri Lankan umpire & they've done a good job.Lets hope Russell Tiffen isn't umpiring any World Cup games.
At least Tiffen is consistent. :o

To be fair to both Umpires Tiffen and Orchard, they have made terrible decisions for both sides, and I would rather have two consistantly terrible umpires in any circumstance.

Hopefully George Best doesn't see this thread. Michael Vaughans' lbw was another shocker.
