I agree with you that with the senior side that you have a lot of these players aren't going to get a look-in. What about having a 1 or 2 point penalty for picking a player to make their debut in a certain round and they don't make their debut at all in the season? If there is no penalty then it encourages you to put down a round for those you don't really think will get a game. Just a suggestion.

And to think I wasn't going to grace this thread with my esteemed presence...
Okay, I have a question: Why is this called 'The Debut Game' when at least half of the players have already debuted? I find that terribly misleading
I also have another question: Why do you all insist on dissing Paul and then start to discriminate against him in such a manner? It's very damaging, emotionally, to him, because it makes him feel like he's not wanted at the club and doesn't have the support of the supporters. Imagine if it was you.

Thanks for that.
Besides White and Ackland, I don't really expect anyone that I have tipped after Koula to get a game, but you never know.
In Ackland's case it will the usual "I will give you a game or two to show me why you should remain on the list".

Not that I'm disagreeing with those that have not picked some players at all but remember Allan Murray wasn't really expected to get a game in 2002 but due to injuries/suspensions we had no other options.

Celebrated as what? The day before January 7? The day after Kane Cornes' birthday? Gee, you're original.
All I'm asking for here is a bit of equality - there's no reason to set Paul out from the rest of the team like that, it's not only unfair but could (and is) being construed as discriminatory. There are worse players judged as more likely to get a game, and most of you either accept it or think it's funny.
A ton of these won't even play unless there are mega injuries but here we go anyway:

I'm pretty sure all the Port supporters here would love to see Paul playing AFL football this year given the bad luck he has had with injuries in recent year.
Just laugh it off or come back with some silly comments about other players as we'll laugh at them too - take the comments for what they really are - harmless fun on a bulletin board.........:D.........life's far to short to take it all seriously..........

Koula can't even make the SANFL league team so how the hell will he make the AFL side?
7 kicks, 2 handballs and two tap-ons for Nth Adelaide reserves the last round of 2002, also struggled in Westies reserves at the end of the year.
Jordan Barham should of stayed on before Koula if we go on reserves form.
I really hope he does live up to his No 12 draft pick status but he seems to be getting worse every year.

You should know by now that his non-selection in the Westies league side for most of 2002 wasn't his fault and had nothing to do with form.
Were you at that game? If so, I'd appreciate it if you could do a full review and pass it on to me so I can put in on my site. Mind you, those stats do make the games before that look really stellar, especially when you look at the averages for the last few games of the season. Oh, and Jordan should have stayed, I mean, of course, he's just the best, you know? Put Koula at CHB and Jords at FF and the team would just win every game, totally, yeah...

Um. No. I hardly even know him. I haven't spoken to him for a year, nor do I actually care about that. I am not obsessed, and I say all this on my website, which I don't believe anybody actually looks at.
I am not Paul's girlfriend, I don't think I'm related to him, and quite frankly my opinion on his looks is none of your business.

It may surprise you but I actually don't mind the Power as a footy team. I go to some of their games and quietly support them when I do :o , although my wife doesn't!! :D
While the Crows are my first love, I just love watching footy full stop, and never miss watching a Port Adelaide game on telly. I always say to myself at the start of the game that I'm going to barrack for the other team but I always end up barracking for Port. I guess it's the South Australian thing to some degree. Showdowns excluded of course!! ;)
When it comes to supporters, that's a different thing altogether. It's very much like the tribal warfare thing that the Victorians have with their Melbourne based teams. I'm sure their are plenty of good people in both camps but we're always going to argue and sling sh*t at each other at times because we come from different tribes and think that ours is the best!! No harm in that as long it doesn't get too serious.
I really hope Port improve even further this year and make it all the way through to the grand final - and that they finish second. No prizes for guessing who I hope beats them!! ;)

Fair enough - but you still don't answer the question of why such a great interest in a fringe player. You don't have to answer - I'm just curious.

Good to hear you like the Power. I used to barrack for the Crows before Port got in,
but I'm afraid I can't stand them now. I try to support them when watching
games against interstaters, but I am never too successful in this.

Well excuse someone who is far removed from all this and has seen little of many of the payers mentioned. But I was chatting to a coach of a country side up here who has seen Gilham in a North Adelaide trial match, and reports him as looking very impressive, ( but I guess they all must have something or they wouldn't be on the list).
Since I rank this country legend's opinion highly I'd say he'll get a run.

She's all locked in now - Brent Guerra is the overwhelming favourite to play his first game in Round 1, with solid support for Cassisi and Cochrane...a little less for Thurstans & Salopek and a late surge for Jared Poulton.
SpecialBruce knows something we don't, as he's picked Paul `4 points' Koulouriotis to play first up!

If there's no changes to who is in the named side, this will be the leaderboard...
10 - Ford Fairlane, macca23, Junior Burger, Power Pride, sog35
8 - Porthos, dreamkillers, Eago77, Eddie Woloschek, rubberman, Port Power
6 - Macca19, Sandola, noddy, mic59, ParalowiePower
4 - Pafolwr, Tredders#16
2 - Badger, lozstar, SpecialBruce
Everyone has managed to get a score!
I see most people who got 5 also tipped Jared Poulton to start. With the run there has been with injuries he must be a chance to move up from emergency. So we could even have some people getting 6.
After Dean Brogan in r2 this is going to get really hard. Being on top after this round will be a huge advantage.

Yeah I'm hoping Cochrane does a hammy now so Poults will put me in the lead with ten points.
Wheres the tipping comp Porthos?

Good news! -- But it'd be just our luck if he went in for one of the other newbies.
Am I allowed to add, "Josh Carr - R3" to my list?

Did rather well too...
Results of the debut games, including Stuart Cochrane's debut game for Port.
Toby Thurstans - slick and skilful in his run from defence. Should be there next week, especially with a shadow on Wakelin.
Steve Salopek - did some nice things and a good kick for goal. Can only get better with a bit more experience in releasing the ball.
Stuart Cochrane - we got him in a Michael Stevens swap. You pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

Thought the Thrust & Salopek were good enough for their first up game, not outstanding by any means but did alright in a losing team. Cochrane has become less impressive everytime i've seen him.

Hard to work out which is which yet. Have we got the peanuts or the monkey?
But the sixty dollar question is: "How on earth did he manage to shut down Nick Stevens?"
Cochrane is a player who can do a job by being single-minded about it. but it is pretty widely known that Nick Stevens can't shake a tag. The only players we might need to tag, players like Voss, McLeod, Cousins and Buckley couldn't be shut down in a pink fit by Cochrane. The difference between the coaching styles too means that where Pagan could use Cochrane, Mark Williams will find he is just another piece of filler on the Port list.
If the side for this week plays as named, the leaderboard will look like this...

And the ones left are:
2 points each
Damon White
Stephen Gilham
Brett Ebert
Wade Champion
Scott Borlace
Joel Patful
Adam Morgan
Cain Ackland
4 points
Paul Koulouriotis
I'm up to 12, missed out on Poults by a week and Che by three.
Not many more points up for graps, whats the current standing?
Still 36 points up for grabs for me. I've got these left :
2 points
Damon White - Round 10
Stephen Gilham - Round 21
Brett Ebert - Round 11
Wade Champion - Round 15
Scott Borlace - Round 20
Joel Patful - Round 22
Adam Morgan - Round 9
Cain Ackland - Round 9
4 points
Paul Koulouriotis - Round 7
Got to wait till round 9 before I can have a crack at building my score. The team should be pretty settled by then (fingers crossed)

What i meant was i doubt many of the remaining players will play this year, perhaps between 3 & 5.
I agree. Mathematically I've got a chance at 36 points, in reality I can only see White, Ackland and Koula with a show this year. That's 8 points at best. Maybe Borlace may get a chance because of Francou. And if the defence gets settled Williams could give Morgan a go. But the possibilities of those two happening are pretty thin.

Morgan will definitely get a game (barring injury), even if its only so Choco can tell him he had an opportunity before he delists him.
I really hope Koula comes good for Kangas match..

Great to see Koula as second emergency behind Dew, a slight injury at training and a no risk factor on Dew will make me four points richer.
