Werent all games meant to be on FTA???

I can't believe they wouldn't show at least a few games on FTA tv, especially the ones with Gilchrist and Hayden and what not.
cricinfo live ball by ball commentary will be following the games though.
When does the tournament start? If it is on One, then who cares if it isn't on Ten.
Werent all games meant to be on FTA???
One is free to air.
For those who don't have equipment HD compatible the station is simulcast in SD on channel 12.
One HD is FTA, and it's not just high-definition either. They have a standard definition version. You just need a digital set top box, which you'll need to buy before 2012 when they switch off the analogue or you won't be able to watch anything
The set top boxes are pretty cheap these days, you can pick up a crappy one for about $40.

It's understandable, got to have some exclusive content on One to get the viewers, the IPL will help.
Aren't they showing the games on the SD channels after 12am? I thought they were?

Can anyone tell me whether the IPL will be on Ten FTA normal channel. I don't understand all this digital talk, too geeky for me. I only watch pay tv for the sports and i rarely watch FTA. I have no idea about this digital setbox stuff all i know is that i dont have it.
Last year Ch 10 (FTA normal) showed some IPL games? Will that be happening this year?
I don't think Channel 10 had the IPL last year. I believe they will be showing some games, after midnight apparently. So easy to set up a set top box and watch it all though on One.
CH 10 did have the IPL last year, and LTD I'm not sure if they will show the IPL on the normal channels or only on the HD channels etc. But I think they will show the games on normal TV, but they will be delayed telecast, so they will be after 12 or something ****ed up like that.

This set top box you speak of.
I presume it's like an austar or foxtel box, how do I acquire one?
How much damage it will it do me (beer comes first)?
Anywhere really, Safeway, Target, K-Mart, Dick Smith etc.
Will cost $50 for a SD one, about $100 for a HD one.
Yeah you can pick one up for between $37 - $50 for a cheapo one. But don't expect it to do much.

If you buy a 40 dollar one it will show you FTA. Pretty simple. Depends if you have a HD tv. If you want HD, you need a HD set top box instead of SD.

Yes it will work, you will get all the SD extra channels, as well as HD channels. The box scales down the HD channels to be able to work on your TV.

I can afford it, but i honestly wasn't too fussed about going to buy a set top box. I wasn't too fussed if it was on delay on Ch 10. Surely a delayed forecast after midnight wouldn't be too much to ask.

No One in Canberra. SouthernCross10 are claiming mid-year, the same as for the rest of the eastern mainland seaboard outside Ten's direct broadcast area, but they claimed April last year for TenHD and that never arrived.
I'm not expecting One to be available here, or in any other market outside the big 5 as all SC10/SC/TDT/DDT feeds go through the Canberra studio, until at least 2011.

OMG LTD!
Point 1:
You say you have the $40 to buy a set top box but don't want to as you aren't home at that time, but you would like Channel 10 to show delayed matches after midnight. Well actually ONE has matches on after midnight, the IPL coverage finishes at 3:30am each morning.
Point 2:
You are going to need to have set top boxes eventually, the government is phasing out analogue television, you might as well buy a cheapie now, even if you properly upgrade later i'm sure you'll still use this cheapie on an old television.
Point 3:
You say you aren't getting the Rudd money...what the? Do you earn over 80 grand or something? Or did you pay no taxes at all last year? Or are you on a disability support pension? Or are you unemployed? Or are you under 18? If the answers to all those questions are no then you should be eligible. If you do happen to be under 18 then you should get your parents to use some of the money to buy a cheap set top box.
Point 4:
Yes you can tape IPL with a set top box. Pretty easy by connecting it to your VCR or DVDR whatever. Or can you just simply not be bothered?
If you can't give me a decent answer to each of those points then you simply have no excuse.

That's a nice littly essay you have written there, well done for effort at least. Unfortunately however it is a F for Fail.
I am a uni Honours student, I often work at university at night on my project using computers/science labs. Most of my posting at night is often done from computer labs and as such im unable to watch the game on TV. Often however, i get home from uni at about 12am and therefore if there was delayed IPL on Ch 10 Analogue (like there was last year) i would really appreciate it.
Our TV went funny a few days ago, a new one was ordered, and it arrived yesterday and it has a inbuilt Digital reciever so there is no need to buy a set top box. Secondly the Sports ONE channel is not on in my region, instead it is just a looping demo tape.
Therefore all your points are about as accurate as a german WW2 machine gun. Im not soft at all, CH 10 is, for saying they'll have coverage in our region but not living up to their word.
Thank You.
